About this appAI proposal
Leafwork is a small office suite that runs as an installable web app. It opens Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, lets you edit text, cells and slides, and saves back to the same formats. Files stay on your device unless you choose to sync or share them.
It is for individuals, developers and small teams who want office documents without a heavy install or a costly monthly licence. The document engine is compiled to WebAssembly, so files open quickly and use little memory on modest laptops.
Unlike a full desktop suite, Leafwork does fewer things on purpose and does them fast. A fidelity check shows what may look different in other apps before you save, so there are no surprises.

- Why this name
- A leaf is light and a page is a leaf. Work is the job. Two plain words that say light documents, easy to say and spell.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users send view or comment links to documents. Recipients open them in the browser with a small Made with Leafwork bar and an option to open a copy in their own Leafwork.
- Do they become customers?
- Recipients can try the editor with one click, but many will only view. Test what share of link viewers open a copy and what share of those later pay for sync.
- First customers
- Freelancers and small teams of up to 10 people who use DOCX and XLSX daily on older or low-memory laptops and pay for Microsoft 365 only to open files.
- Where to reach them
- Open-source communities: Post demos and memory comparisons on GitHub, Hacker News and Rust forums where the interest in lightweight tools is visible.
- Freelancer communities: Offer the free tier in groups for freelancers and consultants who exchange DOCX and XLSX files with clients.
- Search content: Publish guides on opening and editing office files without a subscription, linking to the free web app.
- First milestone
- Ten small teams on the paid Plus or Team tier within 90 days, after 500 free users open real files.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalMatching how Microsoft Office renders complex files (fonts, charts, tracked changes, macros) is hard. Early versions may break on real-world documents and lose trust fast.
- CommercialFree options exist, including Google's suite and LibreOffice. Users may not pay for a lighter editor unless sync or team features clearly save them money.
- PlatformBrowser limits on file access, memory and WebGPU differ by platform, especially on iOS Safari, which may limit the experience there.
- Intellectual propertyOpen-source projects in this space may overlap in code or concept. Licences must be checked, and file-format compatibility work must avoid copying proprietary code.
- DataSaving files in place can corrupt or alter users' documents. Needs backups, version history and strong round-trip testing before any wide release.
