About this appAI proposal
Hushcut finds the key moments in your video, drafts subtitles and builds a highlight reel. The analysis runs on your own computer, in the browser, so the footage is not uploaded to a cloud service.
It is made for video creators, editors and small content teams who handle unreleased, client or sensitive footage. Open a file, let it detect scenes, transcribe speech and flag moments, then export a cut list, subtitle file or short clips.
Unlike cloud tools, there is no per-minute processing fee and no waiting in a queue. Speed depends on your hardware, and Hushcut tells you what to expect before it starts.

- Why this name
- Hush says the footage stays quiet and private; cut is the editor's act. Two plain words joined, easy to say. Trademark check still needed.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Editors share a review link or exported highlight reel with clients and collaborators. The shared page carries a small 'Made with Hushcut' mark and lists timestamps and subtitles, never the source footage.
- Do they become customers?
- Clients who open a review link may be editors or producers themselves, but many will only watch. Test whether the mark and a 'try it on your own footage' link produce any signups.
- First customers
- Freelance video editors and small agencies of 2 to 10 people who work with client-confidential footage, such as corporate, legal or event video.
- Where to reach them
- Editor communities: Post before-and-after demos on subreddits and Discords for video editors and documentary makers who worry about uploads.
- Direct outreach: Message small agencies and legal or medical video producers, offering a free trial on one real project.
- Open-source forums: Share the local-model approach on GitHub and Hacker News to reach people already following local AI tools.
- First milestone
- Ten paying freelancers or small studios in one niche within 60 days, each exporting subtitles or a highlight reel from their own footage.
Why people already pay for this

- Public claimExisting commercial alternatives (Twelve Labs, Runway, Descript) are cloud-based and charge for video analysis services.
- Public claimVideo analysis capabilities like scene detection, action recognition, object detection, subtitle generation, and visual search are needed and valued enough to support multiple commercial products.
- Public claimUsers want local and offline capabilities rather than cloud-dependent solutions, suggesting concerns about privacy, cost, or latency.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalBrowser-based models are slower and smaller than desktop ones. Long 4K files may be too heavy on older laptops, which may force a companion desktop helper.
- AISmall local models may miss moments or mis-transcribe accents and noise, so quality may fall short of cloud tools. Users must be able to correct results easily.
- PlatformBrowser support for GPU compute and local file access differs by browser and OS, and storage limits may restrict large libraries.
- Intellectual propertyEach open model has its own licence, and some restrict commercial use. Every bundled model needs a licence review before selling.
- CommercialUsers who want local tools may expect them free or open source, and may resist a subscription for software running on their hardware.
