About this appAI proposal
Stubcloud runs a stand-in for AWS in your CI pipeline and on developer laptops, so tests that call AWS services run without touching a real account. Start it with one command, point your SDK at it, and run your suite.
It is built for engineering teams on AWS who hit a wall when an emulator lacks a service they need. Stubcloud lists the calls in each test run that were unsupported, so a gap shows up on the first run instead of turning into a workaround.
Paying teams get a support queue with a stated first-response target and a request board where missing services are ranked by the teams asking for them. Snapshots and short-lived environments are kept simple and documented.

- Why this name
- A stub stands in for a real service in tests, and cloud names the target. Two plain words joined, easy to say and spell.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One-command start in CI
Run the emulator as a container step in any CI system. One config file sets endpoints and test credentials.
No member yet
Unsupported-call report
Every run lists the AWS API calls the emulator could not handle, grouped by service, before tests fail.
No member yet
Service request board
Vote on and track missing services or operations. Requests from paying teams are triaged and given a status.

Support with a response clock
Paid plans get a ticket queue showing the first-response target and who owns your issue.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Shared PR environment links and run reports are sent to reviewers and teammates outside the paying account. The report and links carry the Stubcloud name and a link to the gap list.
- Do they become customers?
- Reviewers and teammates see the name but may not hold the buying decision. Test whether anyone who opens a shared link starts their own free account, and whether those accounts upgrade.
- First customers
- Platform or DevOps leads at companies of 20 to 200 engineers that run AWS-dependent CI suites and already pay for an emulator but hit missing services.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News threads: Join discussions on local AWS testing and offer free access to people who describe a missing service.
- DevOps communities: Post the unsupported-call report as a free tool in CI and cloud engineering forums.
- Direct outreach: Contact leads at teams that publicly mention emulator limits in issues or posts, offering a coverage check.
- First milestone
- Five paying teams, each moving at least one CI suite onto Stubcloud, with a missing service they asked for shipped within 30 days.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimTeams pay for LocalStack but struggle with missing AWS service support and unresponsive support despite being paying customers.
- Public claimLocalStack's Cloud Pod and ephemeral instance features are insufficiently implemented for production use.
- Public claimThere is a market for comprehensive AWS emulation, as evidenced by customers willing to use cracked versions and paying for the pro product.
- VerifiedLocalStack's pricing page lists 3 paid plans, from $29 to $89 a month, plus a free plan and prices on request for larger customers

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalMatching AWS behaviour across many services is large work. Broad coverage with accurate edge cases may take far longer than a first version, and gaps could erode the main promise.
- CommercialThe market claims come from public comments. It is unverified how many paying teams would switch for coverage and support alone, given the incumbent's free plan.
- Intellectual propertyReusing open-source emulator code may carry licence limits. Clean-room work and a licence review are needed before building on any existing code.
- CommercialSupport is the stated differentiator and does not scale cheaply. A small team could break its own response targets as customers grow.
- PlatformAWS changes APIs often, so the emulator needs continuous upkeep to avoid drifting from real behaviour.
