Desktop app: Developers test CI/CD pipelines locally with Docker, debug failures, and compare attempts—keyboard-intensive work best done at a desk. Sample screens on a computer, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Tryline lets you test CI/CD pipeline scripts on your own machine before they reach git. A small local runner starts the same kind of Docker container your CI uses, runs your YAML jobs step by step, and shows the result in a web app you can open on any screen.
It is for developers and engineers who edit pipeline files and today commit, push and wait to see what broke. With Tryline you change a step, rerun just that step, and read the output at once. Push when it passes.
The app keeps run history, diffs between attempts and a shareable run link, so a team can look at the same failure. Tryline is a proposal: the local runner and the supported CI formats are what a first version would have to prove.

- Why this name
- A try line is where you attempt something before it counts. Tryline is that rehearsal space for pipelines, short and easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Run jobs locally in Docker
Pick a job from your pipeline file and run it in a container built from the image your CI names. No commit and no push.
No member yet
Rerun a single step
Fix one failing command and rerun from that step. Earlier steps keep their container state until you reset.
No member yet
Interactive shell at the failure
When a step fails, open a shell in the same container and try fixes by hand before editing the YAML.

Run history and diffs
Compare two attempts side by side: config changes, timing and output lines, so you see what your edit changed.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. A developer shares a read-only run link with a teammate to discuss a failing job. The link shows the log, config and a diff between attempts, and invites the viewer to rerun it locally.
- Do they become customers?
- Viewers are often engineers on the same team and could install the runner. Test whether link viewers install it and whether any move to paid seats, rather than only reading one log.
- First customers
- Platform or DevOps engineers at small software teams of 5 to 30 developers who use one hosted CI system with Docker-based jobs and edit pipeline files weekly.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News Show HN: Post the runner with a short demo of fixing a failing job without a commit, in the thread type where the problem is discussed.
- DevOps communities: Offer help in CI forums and subreddits, with a free runner for debugging real pipeline files.
- Technical blog posts: Write guides on debugging slow or flaky pipelines locally, each linking to the free tier.
- First milestone
- Five small teams on one CI format use it weekly for a month, and at least three pay for Pro or Team.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimDevelopers want to prototype CI scripts locally before committing to avoid multiple commits and slow feedback cycles
- Public claimCurrent workflow requires writing YAML commands, committing, and checking results remotely
- Public claimDevelopers would pay for a solution to this problem
- Public claimDocker is already widely used in CI systems, making local environment replication feasible

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalLocal runs will differ from the hosted CI in caches, runner images, service containers and platform-specific actions, so a pass locally may still fail remotely.
- CommercialDevelopers may expect this to be free or open source, and CI vendors may offer their own local runners, which makes paid conversion hard.
- TechnicalEach CI system has its own syntax. Supporting more than one format well costs far more than a first version covers.
- PlatformRequires Docker on the user's machine; Docker licensing or desktop restrictions at some companies could block adoption.
- DataLogs and configs may contain secrets. Share links and uploaded history need masking and careful retention.
