About this appAI proposal
Stackroom is a local development environment manager for web developers on Windows, macOS and Linux. Pick the runtimes, databases and web servers a project needs, and start them together from one window. Node.js, PHP, Python, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis and Nginx are covered from the first version.
Each project gets its own named site with trusted local HTTPS, its own versions and its own ports, so projects do not collide. A project file in the repository lets a teammate get the same setup on any operating system.
Stackroom also exposes your running services to AI coding tools through an MCP server, so an assistant can read logs, check which services are up and restart one. Access is off by default and you choose what each tool may see.

- Why this name
- A stack is the set of services a project runs on; a room is a place to work. Stackroom is the tidy room where your stack lives.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One window for every service
Start, stop and watch runtimes, databases, caches and web servers per project, with live status and logs side by side.

Same app on Windows, macOS, Linux
One interface and one project file across all three systems, so a mixed team sets up the same way.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. A project file committed to a repository brings teammates in: they open the repository, see the file and install Stackroom to run the same setup.
- Do they become customers?
- Teammates are developers who can pay, but may stay on the free tier. Test how many repository file users install the app and how many teams upgrade for shared presets.
- First customers
- Freelance PHP and Node.js developers and small agencies of 2 to 10 people who work on mixed Windows and macOS machines.
- Where to reach them
- Developer communities: Post demos and setup guides in PHP, Node.js and web development forums and subreddits.
- Open-source project file: Publish the project file format on GitHub so repositories adopt it and bring in teammates.
- Agency outreach: Offer free onboarding to a few small agencies in exchange for feedback and a case study.
- First milestone
- Fifty active free users and ten paying Pro users within 90 days, from small agencies and freelancers.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalInstalling and supervising services reliably on Windows, macOS and Linux, including certificate trust and port handling, is hard and will drive most of the support load.
- PlatformA PWA cannot run local services itself. The product needs a native helper, which changes distribution, signing and update work beyond the shared stack.
- CommercialFree and cheap options exist, and Herd and Laragon already have users. Developers may not pay for a tool that replaces something they already run.
- AIGiving AI tools access to logs and services can leak secrets or cause damage if permissions are loose. Defaults must be strict.
- Intellectual propertyBundled runtimes and databases carry their own licences. Redistribution terms need checking before they ship in the installer.
