About this appAI proposal
Cutroom is a video editor you direct in plain language. Say "remove the pauses in clip 3" or "add a lower third at 0:42" and the edit lands on a real multi-track timeline, where you can still drag, trim and adjust by hand.
Your footage stays on your own device. The project is a set of files you own, and only the text of your instructions goes to the AI model you choose. Nothing is uploaded for rendering unless you turn on sync.
It is built for creators and producers who want faster edits without giving up professional control. Repeatable steps can be saved as skills and reused on the next project.

- Why this name
- A cutting room is where editors work and keep their film. The name suggests a private workspace that is yours, plus the act of cutting.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Chat-driven edits
Describe a cut, a title or a pacing change in words. Each result is a normal timeline edit you can inspect and undo.

Real multi-track timeline
Video, audio, caption and graphic tracks with manual trim, ripple and snap, so chat never replaces hands-on control.

Local-first projects
Media and project files stay on your device. Work offline; the AI sees only the text and metadata you allow.

Reusable skills
Save a routine such as intro, captions and export as a skill. Run it on any project with one sentence.

Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Creators publish videos made in Cutroom and can share project links or skill files. Recipients can open a skill or template and run it on their own footage.
- Do they become customers?
- Viewers of finished videos see no Cutroom name unless export marks are on. Shared skills reach other creators who could become paying users. Test whether free-tier skill sharing converts.
- First customers
- Solo YouTube and podcast creators who edit talking-head videos weekly and care about keeping footage private.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and open-source communities: Reach people following local-first AI video projects with demos and a free tier.
- Creator forums and Discords: Post before-and-after edit timings and share starter skills for podcast clips.
- Short demo videos: Show a full edit done by chat on a real timeline, with the footage never leaving the device.
- First milestone
- Ten paying solo creators on the Creator plan who each finish at least four videos in Cutroom within a month.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalBrowser-based decoding, preview and export of large video files may be slow or limited compared with native editors, especially on weak devices and with some codecs.
- AILanguage commands can be ambiguous and produce wrong edits. Change preview and undo must be reliable, or trust drops quickly.
- CommercialEstablished editors are used daily by the target audience. Creators may try Cutroom but not switch from their current tool.
- PlatformA PWA has limited access to files, hardware acceleration and storage quotas; a desktop wrapper may be needed.
- DataLocal-first promise is weakened if prompts or transcripts go to a third-party model. Users need clear control over what is sent.
