Desktop app: Building, reviewing and editing internal tools with dashboards and many fields requires extended keyboard work and a larger screen at a desk. Sample screens on a computer, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Benchwork lets a team turn a plain description into a working internal tool: an admin panel, a dashboard, an approval flow. It connects to the databases and APIs you already use. You review what it drew, change it with a visual editor, and publish it for your colleagues.
It is built for operations leads, analysts and small engineering teams who need a tool this week and do not want to write it from scratch or hand their data to a vendor they cannot leave.
Every app is stored as readable files you can export, version and host yourself. AI generation is a starting point you can inspect, not a black box. Prompts are checked against your real data schema before anything is built.

- Why this name
- A workbench is where practical things get made and kept. The name suggests hands-on building without ceremony.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Prompt to working app
Describe the tool in a sentence. Benchwork drafts screens, queries and permissions that you can read and edit before anyone sees them.

Visual editor
Drag tables, charts, forms and buttons onto a page. Edit what the AI drafted without writing code, or open the code if you want.

Connect your data
Link SQL databases, spreadsheets and any REST API. Schemas are read once so generated apps use real column names.

Export and self-host
Download any app as plain files and run it on your own servers. Leaving Benchwork never means rebuilding from zero.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. A builder shares an app with colleagues, who sign in to use it. Reviewers and approvers are invited into each app, and some of them build their own tools after seeing it work.
- Do they become customers?
- Invited colleagues are in the same company and can become builders on a paid plan. Test how many viewers ask to build their own app within 30 days.
- First customers
- Operations or data leads at 20 to 200 person software and e-commerce companies, who maintain spreadsheets and ad hoc admin pages over a SQL database.
- Where to reach them
- Open-source communities: Post worked examples of reviewed AI-built admin panels in developer forums and GitHub discussions.
- Founder and ops communities: Offer to build a first internal tool live with a team and share the result.
- Content: Publish guides on moving off spreadsheets and exporting tools from other low-code platforms.
- First milestone
- Ten teams each run a tool in daily use for 30 days, and five of them pay for the Team plan.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialSeveral open-source low-code platforms already have large communities and free plans. Benchwork needs a clear niche, such as reviewed AI drafts, to win its first users.
- AIGenerated queries can be wrong or touch too much data. The review step and read-only defaults must be reliable enough that teams trust them.
- TechnicalConnecting to many customer databases from a PWA backend raises security and network-access problems, especially for databases behind firewalls.
- CommercialIf self-hosting is free, paying customers may only come for hosting and support. Willingness to pay for that must be tested.
- RegulatoryInternal tools touch customer and employee data. Larger buyers will ask for compliance certifications that a small team cannot get early.
