About this appAI proposal
Freeboard is a web dashboard that pairs with a small command-line cleaner for macOS. The CLI scans caches, logs, Homebrew leftovers and old Xcode files, and always shows a dry-run plan first. Freeboard keeps those plans and results where you can read them, on any device.
It is made for developers who want cleanup to be scripted and visible, not hidden behind a window of buttons. Set a policy once, such as keeping the two newest simulator runtimes, and each Mac follows it. You approve or skip each item before anything is deleted.
Unlike a one-off cleaner, Freeboard shows how much space came back, what was removed and when, across every Mac you or your team own. The CLI stays free to run alone; the dashboard adds history, policies and alerts.

- Why this name
- Freeboard is the height of a hull above the waterline: the spare room that keeps a vessel safe. A Mac with free space has freeboard.

Dry-run plans you can read
Every scan lists each path, its size and why it is safe to remove. Nothing is deleted until you approve it in the CLI or the app.

Policies per Mac
Set rules such as keep 30 days of logs or the last two runtimes. The CLI applies them on a schedule you choose.

Approve from your phone
A push alert says a Mac is low on space and shows the plan. Approve all, pick items, or skip, from the installed web app.

What it could be worthEstimate

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Reaches customers through developer channels: the free CLI, its repository, posts about reclaimed space, and word of mouth inside teams. Dashboard use does not expose the product to outsiders.
- Do they become customers?
- Free CLI users are already the right audience and can upgrade in the dashboard. Test how many CLI users connect a Mac and how many then pay for policies or alerts.
- First customers
- iOS and macOS developers at teams of 3 to 15 who share build Macs or laptops and have hit full-disk build failures.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and Homebrew: Publish the free CLI with a tap and a clear README, with a link to the dashboard in its output.
- iOS developer communities: Share a write-up on what Xcode leaves behind, with real before and after sizes, in forums and newsletters.
- Hacker News: Post a Show HN about transparent dry-run cleanup and ask for feedback on safety rules.
- First milestone
- Fifty connected Macs and ten paying Pro or Team accounts within 60 days of the CLI release.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalDeleting the wrong files damages a developer's setup. Needs dry-run by default, protected paths, and careful tests across macOS and Xcode versions.
- CommercialThe CLI is free and open-source alternatives exist. Developers may not pay for a dashboard, so the history and team view must prove value.
- PlatformApple may change Xcode paths or tighten file-access permissions, breaking scans. Web Push on iOS also needs the app installed to the home screen.
- DataPath names can reveal project names. Reports should send only category sizes by default, and path detail only if the user opts in.
- Intellectual propertyName needs a trademark check, and the CLI must not reuse code from existing cleaners without a compatible license.
