About this appAI proposal
Hushline keeps your Mac menu bar calm. Pick which status icons stay in view, tuck the rest away, and let rules bring a hidden icon back when it has something to say, such as a low battery, a running timer or a finished upload.
It is made for power users and professionals who install many utilities and are tired of a bar full of icons they rarely use. You set groups and rules once in a web-based control panel that syncs across your Macs, and a small native helper applies them.
Unlike a plain hide-everything toggle, Hushline decides by context: time of day, which app is in front, which display is connected. You always see what is hidden and why, and one key press shows everything.

- Why this name
- Hush means quiet, and a line is what the menu bar is. Two plain words joined, easy to say and spell.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Hushline reaches customers through content, search and Mac communities. Users may share a layout profile as a link, but this is a small side effect, not the main way it spreads.
- Do they become customers?
- People who open a shared profile are Mac users who could install it, so they could convert. Test whether shared profile links produce installs, or whether paid search and reviews do better.
- First customers
- Mac-using software developers and designers at small teams who run 12 or more menu bar apps and work on a laptop plus an external display.
- Where to reach them
- Mac and developer forums: Post before-and-after menu bar layouts and rule examples in Mac communities where users share setups.
- Open-source project users: Reach users of free menu bar tools with a comparison of smart rules and synced profiles.
- Short demo videos: Publish clips showing alert pop-outs and one-key reveal, linking to a free download.
- First milestone
- Fifty free installs from one developer community, and ten paying Pro users within 60 days.

- This app · Native helperSmall Swift menu bar agent for macOSA PWA cannot read or move other apps' menu bar icons. A signed helper applies rules; the PWA is the control panel.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalHiding icons relies on macOS behaviour for menu bar items and may break or need permissions after system updates. The helper needs ongoing upkeep.
- PlatformA PWA cannot control the menu bar. The product only works with a native helper, so it is a hybrid, and Mac App Store rules may limit what the helper can do.
- CommercialEstablished paid apps and a free open-source project already serve this need. Free users may see little reason to pay for rules and sync.
- Intellectual propertyThe name needs a trademark check before use, and the design must not copy features or wording from existing apps.
