About this appAI proposal
Homeshelf is an installable web app that gives your self-hosted Nextcloud one consistent front end on phone, tablet and desktop. Files, calendar and contacts open in the same layout on iOS, Android, macOS, Linux and Windows, with nothing to install from a store.
It keeps recent files, upcoming events and contacts on the device, so you can read and edit offline. Changes queue up and sync when the server is reachable, with clear conflict handling.
It is for small businesses, teams and privacy-minded individuals who run their own server and are tired of different features on each device. It talks to your server over standard WebDAV, CalDAV and CardDAV.

- Why this name
- A home shelf is where your own things sit within reach. It suits people who keep their files on a server they run themselves.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. An admin shares one setup link or QR code with a team. Each member signs in to the same server and gets the same app. Shared folders and calendars pull colleagues in.
- Do they become customers?
- Invited colleagues are real users on the same server and can become paying seats if the admin pays per team. Test whether admins buy for their team or only individuals try it.
- First customers
- IT admins at small businesses of 5 to 50 people who run their own Nextcloud server and have mixed phones and laptops.
- Where to reach them
- Nextcloud community forums: Answer offline and cross-device questions, then offer free early access to people who ask.
- Self-hosting communities: Post a demo of offline editing against a test server in self-hosting subreddits and chat groups.
- Managed Nextcloud hosts: Offer small hosting providers a setup link they can give to customers.
- First milestone
- Ten small teams use it weekly for a month and five pay for a team plan.

RisksAI inference
- PlatformBrowsers limit background sync and storage, especially on iOS. True always-on sync may not be possible, so offline may only sync when the app is open.
- TechnicalNextcloud servers may block cross-origin browser requests. Admins may need to change server settings, or a small proxy may be needed.
- CommercialThe official client is free and people may not pay for a web app that does less than a native client.
- TechnicalConflict handling across files, events and contacts is hard to get right, and a bug could cause data loss.
- PlatformServer app support varies by version, so supporting the wider app ecosystem may take ongoing work.
