About this appAI proposal
Packetfold opens capture files (pcap and pcapng) in your browser and groups raw packets into readable exchanges: DNS lookups, TLS handshakes, HTTP requests and their responses. You see what happened and in what order, then drop to bytes only when you need them.
It is built for macOS developers, network engineers and QA testers who debug connectivity and verify API behavior. Capture with the tools you already use, drag the file in, filter in plain words, and share a link to the exact moment a request went wrong.
Packetfold does not replace live capture. It is the reading and sharing side, which is where many cross-platform tools feel heavy. Files are parsed locally in the browser by default.

- Why this name
- Packets arrive as a flat stream. Folding them into readable exchanges is what the tool does, and the name says it in two plain words.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Conversation view
Packets are grouped into flows and exchanges, such as a DNS query with its answer or an HTTP request with its response, with timings.

Filter in plain words
Type "failed TLS to api.example.com" or use familiar filter syntax. Suggestions show matching hosts, ports and protocols as you type.

Local parsing
Capture files are decoded in your browser with WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to share a view.

Shareable moments
Pin a packet range, add a note, and send a link. Redaction rules hide tokens, cookies and IP addresses before sharing.

The material gives no competitor prices; it only notes that Wireshark is free. These tiers are a starting point to test, with the paid tier selling time saved and sharing, not capture.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. A user publishes a link to an annotated capture view, with the failing exchange highlighted and sensitive fields redacted. Teammates, vendors or support staff open it without installing anything.
- Do they become customers?
- Recipients are often engineers who face the same problem and could sign up, but a link opened once brings no customer by itself. Test how many viewers of shared links create an account within 30 days.
- First customers
- Mobile and backend developers at small macOS-based software teams who debug API and TLS issues weekly, and QA testers who file network bug reports.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and open-source communities: Engage in threads and issues about packet inspection on macOS, and offer a free viewer for pcap files.
- Developer forums and Reddit: Post worked examples of debugging a failed TLS handshake or slow DNS with Packetfold views.
- Bug-report workflows: Pitch QA leads on attaching shareable capture links to tickets.
- First milestone
- Ten developers use shared capture links in real bug reports, and five of them pay for the Pro tier within 60 days.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalA PWA cannot capture packets. Users must capture with tcpdump or similar, so the first step is less smooth than a native app. Large files may strain browser memory.
- CommercialWireshark is free and entrenched. Developers may see a viewer as not worth paying for unless sharing and speed clearly save time.
- TechnicalDecoding many protocols correctly is a long tail. Early versions must cover a narrow set well, such as DNS, TLS and HTTP, or lose trust.
- DataCaptures can hold credentials and personal data. Shared links need strong redaction, expiry and access controls, or a leak could end trust.
- Intellectual propertyName needs a trademark check, and parsing code must avoid copying Wireshark dissector code under incompatible licenses.
