About this appAI proposal
Keelnote is a note-taking app for people who keep a lot of notes for a long time. It syncs across your devices without setup and imports a notebook archive in one pass, so leaving a service that raised its price does not cost an afternoon.
Your price is fixed when you join and shown on your account page. If plans change, you stay on the plan you chose unless you pick a new one yourself. Older plans are never hidden.
Your notes stay yours. Export everything to plain Markdown files at any time, attachments included, and take a full backup with one tap. Leaving should be as easy as arriving.

- Why this name
- A keel keeps a boat steady over long voyages. The name suggests stability for notes kept over many years, and it is short and easy to say.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Sync that needs no setup
Sign in on a second device and your notes are there. No cloud service to pick, no sync folder to configure, no scripts to run.

Bring your archive in one pass

Plain Markdown export, always
Export all notes and attachments as Markdown files in folders, any time, on any plan. Your notes outlive the app.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. It grows through content, search and communities where people look for alternatives. Notes are private, so use does not expose the product to new people.
- Do they become customers?
- Nothing spreads by use. Test whether people leaving price rises will pay a similar amount for a lock and a simple move, found through comparison pages and forum posts.
- First customers
- Long-time paid users of one big note service, working as researchers or writers, with archives of several thousand notes and a wish to leave after a price rise.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and forums: Join threads on note-app price rises, offer a free import check, and share a migration guide.
- Comparison and import pages: Publish how-to pages for moving notes from named services to Markdown, aimed at people searching to leave.
- Researcher communities: Offer early access in academic and writer groups where long archives are common.
- First milestone
- Twenty people import a real archive of 1,000+ notes, and ten of them pay for a plan within 30 days.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimLong-term Evernote subscribers are cancelling after 12 years due to price increases
- Public claimEvernote raised prices from $149 to $249 annually and forced existing users into higher tiers without consent.
- Public claimUsers are willing to spend time (30 minutes) to switch to an alternative note-taking tool to escape price increases.
- Public claimUsers rely on note-taking applications to store large, long-term archives of personal knowledge ("a decade of notebooks").

- This app · File storageS3-compatible object storageHolds attachments and dated backup snapshots beyond what the database should store.
- This app · Offline syncLocal database with conflict-safe mergeNotes must be editable offline and merge cleanly across devices.
RisksAI inference
- TechnicalOffline editing with merge across devices can lose or duplicate text if conflicts are handled badly. This must be tested hard before anyone trusts it with a decade of notes.
- CommercialUsers who left over price may not trust any new vendor with a long archive. A price promise needs to be believable, and the free export has to back it up.
- DataImport quality decides whether people switch. Export formats from other apps vary and may drop formatting, tags or attachments.
- PlatformInstalled web apps on some phones limit background sync and storage, which can weaken offline use.
- CommercialA fixed price with storage and backups costs money per user. Low prices may not cover heavy users unless limits are set.
