About this appAI proposal
Tinbell lets you notify yourself from a script, cron job or app with one HTTP POST. No SDK, no server to run, no OAuth flow. Sign in on your phone and laptop, copy your personal URL, and curl it.
It is made for developers and technical users who run automated processes and want to know when a backup ends, a deploy fails or a long job finishes. Email is slow and easy to miss, and a custom notification system is more work than the thing you are watching.
Tinbell is a PWA: open it, sign in and add it to your devices. Messages reach every device where you are signed in, and a short history keeps what you missed while offline.

- Why this name
- A tin bell is small, loud and needs no setup, just like the product: you ring it with one request.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One POST, no SDK
Send plain text or small JSON to your personal URL with curl, fetch or any HTTP client. Nothing to install in your code.

Every signed-in device
A message goes to all your phones and computers where you are signed in, at the same time.

Secret URL, rotate anytime
Your endpoint carries a secret token, so no auth headers are needed. Revoke and reissue it in one tap.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Tinbell mostly reaches customers through developer content, docs and example snippets. Messages go only to the owner, so the product's own use does not expose it to new people.
- Do they become customers?
- Test whether developers who find it through search and Show HN style posts hit the free limits and upgrade for volume, history or webhooks.
- First customers
- Solo developers and small-team engineers who run cron jobs, scripts and side projects and currently email themselves alerts.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News: Post a Show HN with a working curl example and answer comments on setup and reliability.
- Developer blogs and docs: Publish short guides such as alerting from cron, CI and backup scripts, each with a copy-ready snippet.
- Reddit self-hosting and devops: Share the tool in relevant communities and gather feedback on delivery and limits.
- First milestone
- 500 signups sending at least 5 messages in a week, and 20 paying users on Pro within 90 days.

RisksAI inference
- PlatformWeb push on phones may need the PWA added to the home screen first, which weakens the no-install promise. Delivery on iOS and Android must be tested early.
- CommercialFree, open-source and paid notification tools already exist for this need, so developers may see little reason to switch or to pay.
- TechnicalDelivery reliability matters most for alerts. Missed or delayed pushes would break trust quickly.
- DataA secret URL can leak in logs or repos and let others send messages. Rotation, rate limits and abuse controls are needed.
- CommercialThe only market evidence is a small Hacker News post, so paying demand is not yet shown.
