About this appAI proposal
Hushkeep is an offline-first vault for the secrets developers carry: API keys, private keys, seed phrases, passwords and .env files. Everything is encrypted on your device. There is no account to create and no sync server to trust.
It is built for developers, DevOps engineers, crypto users and the local AI agents they run. Secrets are sorted by type, with fields that fit each one. A scoped, time-limited lease lets an agent read one secret without seeing the rest.
Unlike cloud password managers, nothing leaves the device unless you export an encrypted file. Unlike a loose encrypted file, it gives you search, types, expiry reminders and an access log. Teams share a vault by passing encrypted bundles.

- Why this name
- Hush means quiet and private; keep means holding something safe. Two plain words that say the vault stays silent and local.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Local-only encryption
Secrets are encrypted on your device with a key derived from your passphrase. No cloud, no account, and the app works with the network off.

Types built for developers
Templates for API keys, SSH and signing keys, seed phrases, .env sets and passwords, each with fitting fields and masked display.

Agent leases
Give a local AI agent one secret for a set time. It can read only that secret, and every read is written to the log.

Encrypted file export
Export a vault as one encrypted file for backup or a second device. The format is documented, so you are not locked in.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. A team owner sends a vault bundle to teammates. Each must install Hushkeep and create their own key to open it, so sharing a vault brings in new users.
- Do they become customers?
- Invited teammates can become paying Team seats or Solo users. Test whether teams actually share vaults this way or keep using chat and password managers.
- First customers
- Solo developers and small crypto or AI-agent teams of 2 to 10 people who run local agents and keep keys in .env files.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and Show HN: Publish the open file-format reader and a demo repo; post about agent leases to developers who use local agents.
- Crypto and agent dev communities: Share a guide on keeping seed phrases and API keys off the cloud in developer forums and Discords.
- First milestone
- Five paying Pro or Team customers among local-agent developers within 60 days of launch.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalBrowser storage can be cleared or lost, which would destroy the only copy of a vault. Needs prominent encrypted backups and clear warnings.
- CommercialFree offline tools like KeePass already exist, and a product with no cloud has little recurring value, so paid conversion is uncertain.
- AIGiving agents access to secrets invites prompt-injection and leak paths. Leases limit the damage but cannot stop an agent from misusing a secret it was given.
- PlatformA PWA has limits on storage persistence, clipboard access and local network access across browsers, which may weaken the agent bridge.
- RegulatoryHolding seed phrases and keys raises trust and liability questions; a bug could lose user funds. Needs an independent security review before launch.
