About this appAI proposal
Cutbench is a video editor for people who make vertical short-form video. It installs as a web app, keeps footage and projects on your own device, and keeps working with no connection. Cut, caption, reframe to 9:16 and export without an account.
It is built for creators who want to move away from subscription editors. Common jobs like captions, talking-head cleanup and repeated effects can be saved as recipes and run in one step, or driven by your own scripts and AI agents through an open automation interface.
Projects are stored in an open, readable format, so you can take them elsewhere. The core editor is free. Paid plans add heavier tools and optional sync, never access to your own files.

- Why this name
- A bench is where makers work with their own tools. Cut says the job. Two plain words, easy to say and spell.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Creators publish videos and can share recipe and template links. Anyone opening a link can load the recipe in Cutbench and run it on their own clip.
- Do they become customers?
- Viewers of a finished video see no editor. Only people who open a recipe link can try it. Test how many link openers run a recipe, then how many upgrade.
- First customers
- Solo creators making weekly vertical videos for YouTube Shorts, who now use a free or subscription desktop editor and want offline use and automation.
- Where to reach them
- Creator communities: Share recipes and short how-to clips in creator forums and subreddits where editor alternatives are discussed.
- Open-source audience: Post in discussions around the open editor repository and automation tooling, offering a browser-based option.
- Short video tutorials: Publish Shorts showing one recipe turning raw footage into a captioned clip in under a minute.
- First milestone
- Fifty weekly active creators, and ten paying Pro subscribers within 90 days of launch.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalIn-browser editing is limited by device memory, codec support and export speed. Long 4K projects may fail or run slowly on phones and older laptops.
- CommercialThe free open-source project it is compared to may already satisfy the audience, leaving little reason to pay for a web app.
- PlatformBrowser support for file access, background work and encoders differs across Safari, Chrome and Firefox, and may change.
- AIOn-device captions may be less accurate than cloud services, especially for accents and noisy audio.
- Intellectual propertyVideo codecs and bundled fonts, music or effects may carry licence terms that must be checked before shipping.
