About this appAI proposal
Plainpost is an email sending service for developers and small teams. Your app calls one HTTP API; Plainpost handles templates, queues, retries, bounces and complaints, and sends through your own Amazon SES account or SMTP relay. You pay for the software, not a markup on each message.
It is for teams that pay for tools like Resend, SendGrid, Postmark or Mailgun and want cost control without losing the dashboard. Run it yourself or let us host it. Domains, keys, templates and logs stay exportable, so leaving is an export, not a rewrite.
The installable web app is made for checking mail from your phone: what bounced, why, and whether your domain is still healthy, without opening a terminal.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Reaches customers through the open code repository, setup guides and developer content. Emails sent carry no Plainpost branding, so use does not spread by itself.
- Do they become customers?
- Repository visitors can become paying customers if they want hosting or phone alerts. Test how many self-hosters convert to the Team plan.
- First customers
- Small startups of 2 to 15 developers already sending transactional email through SES or paying a per-email API plan, who want a dashboard without a vendor bill.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and Hacker News: Publish the code with a short guide to moving from a paid email API in one afternoon.
- Developer communities: Answer cost and lock-in questions in self-hosting and SES forums, offering a free migration check.
- Tutorials: Write setup posts for popular frameworks, showing the domain checker and alerts.
- First milestone
- Ten teams on the hosted Team plan within 60 days, each sending real production mail through their own SES.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialOpen source alternatives already exist in this market, such as the repositories in the evidence. Plainpost must win on the phone dashboard and setup help, and people may just self-host for free.
- TechnicalDeliverability is hard: queues, retries, bounce handling and sender reputation must work reliably or customers lose mail.
- PlatformRelying on customers' SES accounts means AWS sending limits, sandbox rules and policy changes affect the product.
- RegulatoryHosting logs with recipient addresses brings privacy duties, and customers' marketing mail must follow anti-spam laws.
- CommercialWillingness to pay for managed hosting of a self-hostable tool is unproven; the free self-host tier may cannibalise paid plans.
