About this appAI proposal
Tallyroom is a small-business workspace that puts contacts, quotes, invoices, orders, inventory and double-entry books in one place. It is built for freelancers, small shops and foundations who now juggle spreadsheets and separate tools, or find full ERP systems too heavy.
It installs as a web app, so the same data works on a phone at a market stall or a laptop at a desk. Setup starts with a short questionnaire that switches on only the modules you need, so a freelancer sees invoices and a shop also sees stock. Data can be exported at any time.

- Why this name
- A tally is the oldest way to keep count of what you sold and owe. The name is short, easy to say, and suggests simple bookkeeping without jargon.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One record per contact
Each customer or donor holds their quotes, orders, invoices, payments and notes, so nobody searches several tools.

Invoices that post to the books
Create an invoice and the double-entry ledger updates itself. No retyping into a separate accounting tool.
No member yet
Orders and stock together
An order reserves stock, and low-stock alerts show what to reorder before you run out.

Modules you switch on
Start with invoicing alone and add orders, inventory or scheduling later. Screens stay uncluttered.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Invoices, quotes and payment links go to customers as branded pages with a small Made with Tallyroom footer on the free tier. Recipients who run their own business can start their own account from it.
- Do they become customers?
- Invoice recipients are often small businesses themselves, but this is untested. Test how many visitors to the invoice page start a free account, and how many later pay.
- First customers
- Freelancers and small shops of 1 to 5 people in one country, plus small foundations, who now use spreadsheets for invoices and stock.
- Where to reach them
- Open-source ERP communities: Join forums and issue threads where small users ask for simpler setup, and offer a hosted alternative with import.
- Freelancer and local business groups: Offer free Solo accounts and help move invoices out of spreadsheets in online groups.
- First milestone
- Ten small businesses in one country send real invoices weekly, and five pay for the Team tier within 90 days.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialOpen-source ERP projects are free to self-host, so small buyers may not pay for hosting unless setup, mobile use and ease clearly beat them.
- RegulatoryInvoice formats, tax rules and bookkeeping standards differ by country. Launching in one region first is needed, and the product is not tax advice.
- TechnicalDouble-entry accounting with inventory and offline sync is hard to get right. Ledger errors would destroy trust quickly.
- CommercialScope is wide. Trying to match full ERP modules like manufacturing too early could delay a useful first version.
