About this appAI proposal
Hopline is a single endpoint for open-weight language models. You write your app once, then choose which model and which host serves each request. If a host raises prices, limits your use or goes down, you change one setting instead of refactoring code.
It is built for developers and small companies that already pay for LLM API access and feel tied to one proprietary provider. Pricing is shown per model and per host before you send a request, and a running bill is visible at all times.
Unlike a single host, Hopline keeps your prompts, test sets and settings in your own project. You can replay the same prompts on another model and compare quality and cost side by side before you move any traffic.

- Why this name
- A hop is a quick move from one place to another. The name says that switching models or hosts should be that easy. It is short and easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One endpoint, many hosts
Send requests in one familiar format. Hopline routes them to the open-weight model and host you pick.
No member yet
Switch with a setting
Change model or host in a dashboard or config file. No changes to application code.
No member yet
Automatic fallback
Set a backup host. If the first one is slow, full or refuses a request, Hopline retries on the next.

Price shown before you call
See per-token cost for each model and host up front, with a live spend meter and hard monthly caps.

PricingAI proposal
Fireworks AI's pricing page (verified) lists 3 paid plans from $0.10 to $3 by usage. The material gives no subscription prices, so these tiers and the margin are a starting point to test.

What it could be worthEstimate

$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Hopline runs behind customers' apps and its name is not seen by their users. It grows through developer content, public model price and quality comparisons, and word of mouth among developers.
- Do they become customers?
- Developers who find it can become paying customers directly. Test whether a public price and quality comparison page brings signups that move real traffic and not just free tests.
- First customers
- Small teams of 2 to 15 developers shipping an AI feature on one proprietary LLM API, who spend a few hundred dollars a month and want a second option.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and Reddit threads: Join discussions about provider restrictions and share a free model and host cost comparison tool.
- Developer newsletters and blogs: Publish migration guides with measured cost and quality from replaying real prompts.
- Open-source integrations: Offer a drop-in client and example repos for popular AI app frameworks.
- First milestone
- Ten teams each route over $100 a month of live traffic through Hopline within 60 days, and five of them pay for Builder.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialMargin on resold inference may be thin, and hosts or aggregators may already offer similar routing. The product must win on switching, comparison and clear rules.
- PlatformDepends on upstream hosts. Price changes, terms changes or outages at a host would affect customers and margin.
- TechnicalA proxy adds delay and a failure point. Streaming, tool calls and differences between model formats must behave the same across hosts.
- DataCustomers send prompts that may hold private data. Clear retention rules and host data terms are needed, and they must be checked.
- AIOpen-weight models differ in quality. Switching may change outputs, so replay and comparison must be good enough to trust.
