About this appAI proposal
Larder Drive turns a messaging account you already have into a personal file drive. Browse, search and organise files in one folder view, on phone or desktop, without paying a monthly fee per gigabyte.
Files are encrypted on your device with a key only you hold, then sent to your own private chat space. Automatic backup keeps photos and chosen folders safe in the background, and large files are split and rejoined for you.
It is for people tired of storage subscriptions or wary of big providers. It differs from a chat scroll: folders, search and restore are built for storage, and you can export everything at any time.

- Why this name
- A larder is a private store you stock yourself and keep for later. It suggests saving, ownership and low cost, in two plain words.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Folder view over your chat space
See uploads as real folders and files with names, tags and search, not a long chat scroll.
No member yet
Encrypt before upload
Files are encrypted on your device with your own passphrase. Lose the key and nobody, including us, can recover them.

Automatic backup
Pick photo albums or folders and a schedule. Only new and changed files are sent, on Wi-Fi only if you prefer.

Big files, split and rejoined
Large files are cut into pieces on upload and put back together on download, with a check that nothing is missing.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no competitor prices. These tiers are a starting point to test against the pain of per-gigabyte fees; storage itself costs the user nothing here.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.

Worth about
$190,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Reaches customers through content, open-source communities and search for storage alternatives. Files stay private, so use does not expose the product to others.
- Do they become customers?
- Test whether free-tier users on one device convert to paid for multi-device scheduled backup. Word of mouth in privacy and self-hosting circles is untested.
- First customers
- Privacy-minded individuals and hobbyists with large photo or media libraries who already use the chat platform and dislike storage subscriptions.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and open-source forums: Engage users of the similar repository and post a short guide on encrypted backup with a waitlist.
- Privacy and self-hosting communities: Share a free tier and honest limits in subreddits and forums on subscription fatigue.
- First milestone
- Fifty free users backing up weekly for a month, and ten of them paying for Plus.

RisksAI inference
- PlatformThe product depends on a third-party messaging platform that could change limits, block heavy storage use or close accounts, which could cost users their files.
- RegulatoryUsing a chat service as bulk storage may breach its terms of service. Terms must be checked before launch and users told plainly.
- TechnicalA browser app has limited background access, so reliable automatic backup on phones and desktops may need a companion helper and could be unreliable.
- CommercialEvidence is a single repository with growing stars. Interest from developers may not turn into paying consumers, and a free open-source rival may exist.
- DataWith client-side keys, a lost passphrase means lost data. Recovery options must be clear and tested.
