About this appAI proposal
Quillfold is a personal knowledge base for people who keep many notes and care how a tool feels. You write in plain text, link notes to each other, and find anything in a moment, on a phone or a laptop.
It is built around execution rather than a new concept: quick typing, smooth scrolling, predictable keyboard shortcuts, careful spacing and no surprises offline. Each screen is made to stay out of your way.
Notes stay in open formats you can export at any time. One plan covers sync and publishing, so you do not have to assemble the experience from plugins.

- Why this name

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users publish notes as clean read-only pages. Readers see a small Quillfold mark and a link to try it.
- Do they become customers?
- Readers may be note-takers too, but many will only read. Test how many published-page views lead to sign-ups.
- First customers
- Independent researchers and graduate students who keep large note libraries and already pay for note tools.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News: Show a launch post with speed benchmarks on large libraries, and answer technical questions.
- Academic communities: Offer early access in research and writing forums and communities, asking for feedback.
- First milestone
- Fifty waitlist testers use it for a month and ten pay for the Sync plan.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedObsidian's pricing page lists 6 paid plans, from $5 to $10 a month, plus a free plan
- Public claimUsers would pay for better-executed personal knowledge management tools that currently do not exist in the market.
- Public claimSuccessful PKM tools require extensive UI, UX, and performance optimizations beyond conceptual implementation, which clones fail to deliver.
- Public claimCreating effective PKM tools requires technical excellence, good taste, and sustained effort that AI alone cannot provide.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialUsers must see a clear gain over Obsidian and free tools; the evidence is public claims, so willingness to pay is unverified.
- TechnicalMatching native-feeling speed and offline sync in a PWA on large libraries, especially on iOS, is hard and may limit storage and background sync.
- PlatformBrowser storage limits and eviction rules could put locally held notes at risk without careful backup.
- DataSync conflicts or bugs could damage personal notes and destroy trust, so export and history must work from day one.
