About this appAI proposal
Kasbook is a lightweight point of sale for small shops. Ring up a sale, take cash or a transfer, share a receipt, and note the day's expenses. That is all it does, so a new helper can learn it in one shift.
It runs as an installable web app on the phone you already own. Sales are saved on the device when the signal drops and sync when it returns. At closing, one screen shows takings, expenses and the cash that should be in the drawer.
It is meant for owners who find full retail suites too complex or too costly. There are no modules to switch on and no setup beyond a product list, which you can paste in from a spreadsheet.

- Why this name
- Kas means cash in Indonesian and Malay; book points to the ledger. Short, easy to say, and it names the two jobs the app does.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One-tap sales
Big product buttons and a running total. Add items, take payment and finish a sale in a few taps.

Works offline
Sales are stored on the phone without signal and sync later, so a dropped connection never stops the till.

Expense log
Note rent, stock and small costs in seconds, with a category and an optional photo of the receipt.

Daily close
See sales, expenses and expected cash in one view. Enter the counted cash and the gap is shown.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.
If it makes
Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Each sale can produce a receipt link that the customer opens. The page shows the shop's name and a small line that it was made with Kasbook, linking to the app.
- Do they become customers?
- Customers who open receipts are mostly shoppers, not shop owners, so conversion may be low. Test whether receipt links lead any shop-owner visitors to start a free account.
- First customers
- Owners of one-person or family food stalls, cafes and small groceries in one Indonesian city, with one to three staff, who now use paper notebooks or a free app.
- Where to reach them
- WhatsApp and Facebook groups: Join local seller and UMKM groups, offer free setup help and a short demo video in the local language.
- Market and street visits: Visit shops in person, load the product list for them in ten minutes and leave a QR code to the app.
- Open-source communities: Post in the forums where the open-source POS is discussed, offering a hosted option for owners who do not want to self-host.
- First milestone
- Twenty shops in one city using it for daily close for four weeks, and five of them paying for the hosted plan.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialAn open-source competitor is free to self-host. Shop owners may not pay for hosting unless setup, backup and support clearly save them time.
- TechnicalOffline sync conflicts, such as two phones selling the same stock, can corrupt totals if not designed carefully.
- PlatformBluetooth printing and install behaviour in PWAs vary by phone and browser, especially on cheap Android devices.
- CommercialStripe may not be available to collect fees in some target countries, and card payments for small amounts may be rare.
- RegulatorySome countries require certified receipts or tax reporting from point-of-sale software; that could limit where the app can be sold.
