About this appAI proposal
Steadykey is a storefront and license manager for independent plugin makers. You upload installers, set a price, and buyers get a signed license file they activate once. After that the plugin checks the file locally, with no network call while a session is running.
It is built for makers who sell to producers and engineers, where a glitch in a session or on stage costs more than a pirated copy. Buyers get a simple wallet app to see their licenses, re-download installers and move a license to a new computer without writing to support.
Protection is light by design: signed keys, a per-buyer ID in the license, and a dashboard that shows odd activation patterns. It does not try to stop every crack. It tries to keep honest customers working.

- Why this name
- A key that stays steady. It says the license is simple and constant, and the session keeps running.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Each maker shares a hosted product page and buyers receive license emails and wallet links. Pages and the download screen carry a small Powered by Steadykey mark that other makers can see.
- Do they become customers?
- Buyers are producers, not makers, so most would only see the brand. Test whether makers who buy plugins also build them, and whether the mark brings sign-ups.
- First customers
- Solo plugin developers who sell VST3 or AU effects and instruments to hip-hop and electronic producers, and who already have a free build with an audience.
- Where to reach them
- Developer forums: Join threads on plugin copy protection and offer to set up a store for a maker with a real release.
- Audio dev communities: Post a write-up on load-time-only license checks and invite makers to try the module.
- Direct outreach: Message makers of viral free plugins whose users ask for a premium version.
- First milestone
- Five plugin makers each sell at least ten paid licenses through Steadykey within 60 days, with no activation-related support issues.
Why people already pay for this
- Public claimHeavy or aggressive DRM in VST plugins can cause glitches or failures during live performance, a significant concern for paying customers.
- Public claimA free plugin unexpectedly went viral and users requested a premium version with more sounds and features.
- AI inferenceDemand exists for premium audio plugins from independent developers, with commercial music producers willing to pay for licensed plugins.
- Public claimSmall independent developers must balance copy protection with usability and stability concerns.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialMakers may prefer existing marketplaces for reach, and see a separate storefront as extra work. The material shows demand for plugins, not for this tooling.
- TechnicalThe check module must build and behave across plugin formats, hosts and operating systems. A bug here would cause the very failures it promises to avoid.
- CommercialLight protection may disappoint makers who want strong anti-piracy. The offer rests on the claim that stability matters more to paying customers.
- PlatformInstallers and plugin binaries on macOS and Windows need signing and notarization by the maker. A web app cannot do that for them.
- DataActivation logs contain buyer and machine identifiers, so privacy and data handling must be clear to buyers.
