About this appAI proposal
Hearth Circle is a small social network you pay for, so nobody else has to pay for your attention. There are no ads, no sold data and no endless feed. You follow people and topics, and a finite daily edition shows their best posts, then ends.
It is for people who want social media for friends, ideas and hobbies without the pull to keep scrolling. You set your own time limits and quiet hours, and the app respects them instead of working around them.
The subscription is the only income. Ranking is explained in plain words, you can switch to chronological order, and you can export or delete your data at any time.

- Why this name
- A hearth is a warm place where people gather and that you can leave. Circle points to small, chosen groups instead of a crowd.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
A daily edition that ends
Your feed is a finite set of posts, built once or twice a day. When you reach the end, the app tells you that you are done.

Time limits you set
Choose daily minutes, quiet hours and weekday rules. The app winds down gently at your limit and keeps the exit visible.

No ads, no data sales
Revenue comes only from subscriptions. Your activity is not sold or used to target ads, and the privacy page is plain words.

A feed you can read and change

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. Members invite friends into circles, since the app is most useful with real contacts. Invitees see a read-only preview of the circle and can join with a trial or a gifted month.
- Do they become customers?
- Invitees are direct potential subscribers, but may resist paying. Test whether invited circle members convert to paid, and how many invites a member sends.
- First customers
- Existing close groups of 10 to 30 adults, such as writers' clubs, hobby groups or friend circles, who already complain about mainstream platforms and want a paid private home.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and tech forums: Post a launch thread on ad-free, time-limited social media and recruit founding members from the discussion.
- Newsletter authors' communities: Offer paid-newsletter writers a private circle for their readers, and ask them to invite members.
- First milestone
- Five groups of at least ten people each, with at least 50 paying members in total after a 60-day trial.
Why people already pay for this
- AI inferenceUsers would pay a monthly subscription for a curated, ad-free social platform that respects their attention and mental health.
- AI inferenceExisting ad-supported social platforms exploit users as data sources and engage in manipulative behavior.
- Public claimNo one has successfully built a viable ad-free, user-respecting social platform, despite it being a theoretically disrupted market opportunity.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialA social network is only useful with people in it. Paid-only entry makes the cold start hard, and one Hacker News claim says no one has yet built a viable one.
- CommercialWillingness to pay is inferred, not verified. Users may say they value privacy yet stay on free platforms where their friends are.
- PlatformPWA push and install support on iOS is more limited, which may weaken the daily edition reminder.
- RegulatoryUser posts bring moderation duties, child safety rules and privacy law obligations that a small team must handle from launch.
- AICuration that claims quality can feel biased or opaque. Ranking must stay explainable and user-adjustable.
