About this appAI proposal
Steadrun is a small process manager that keeps your apps and services running on Linux, macOS and Windows. A single lightweight agent starts, watches and restarts processes with predictable behavior, and uses little memory and CPU on the host.
A PWA dashboard connects the agents on all your servers. You see what is running, what restarted and why, and get an alert when something keeps failing. It works from a phone, so the on-call person can check a host without a laptop.
It is for DevOps engineers and developers who run production processes on more than one operating system and want a process manager that is quick to start, easy to reason about, and visible across machines.

- Why this name
- Steady plus run: processes that keep running without drama. Two plain words, easy to say and type in a terminal.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One agent, three operating systems
The same config file and commands work on Linux, macOS and Windows, so mixed fleets need no per-platform scripts.

Deterministic restarts
Set restart limits, backoff and start order in plain config. Every restart records its exit code and reason.

Low overhead
The agent is built to start fast and stay small, so it does not compete with the apps it supervises.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Developers find it through the open agent, docs, and posts comparing process managers. The dashboard is used internally by teams, so its own use does not expose it to new buyers.
- Do they become customers?
- Free agent users can upgrade to paid dashboard tiers. Test whether solo users of the free agent convert once they run a second server and want alerts.
- First customers
- Small DevOps teams of 2 to 10 engineers running Node or other services on 5 to 30 mixed Linux and Windows servers, currently using PM2 without a hosted dashboard.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and open-source launch: Release the agent openly with a migration guide and benchmarks, then link to the dashboard waitlist.
- Hacker News and dev forums: Share a write-up of design choices and measured overhead, and answer questions from PM2 users.
- Direct outreach to PM2 users: Contact teams on public issues and discussions about multi-server monitoring needs, offering a free pilot.
- First milestone
- Ten teams run the agent on two or more servers, and five pay for the Team plan within 60 days of launch.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalReliable supervision on three operating systems (signals, service managers, Windows process handling) is hard, and bugs in the agent can take down production apps.
- CommercialPM2 is the incumbent and the material gives no specifics on its shortcomings. Users may stay unless Steadrun is clearly better. The star growth evidence is for a different repo, not this product.
- CommercialMany teams already rely on systemd, containers or Kubernetes for process supervision, which shrinks the audience that needs a standalone process manager.
- PlatformAgents running on customers' servers with remote control is a security-sensitive surface; one breach would destroy trust. Signed releases and strict permissions are needed.
- Intellectual propertyName needs a trademark check, and open-source agent licensing must be chosen so the paid dashboard is not simply cloned.
