ScreensConcept
Desktop app: Data engineers configure templates, connect sources, and monitor sync health and answer drift through dashboards—all extended desk work. Sample screens on a computer, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Lantern Index gives data teams a working RAG and enterprise search system in one deployment. Pick a template, connect your sources such as SharePoint, Google Drive, S3 or PostgreSQL, and get a searchable, question-answering index that keeps itself current as the source data changes.
It is built for data engineers and ML practitioners who are tired of wiring a vector database, connectors, document parsing and an LLM layer together and then maintaining the glue. You choose the vector store you already use or let Lantern host one.
Unlike a bare vector database, Lantern ships the whole pipeline and a sync monitor, so you see what was indexed, what failed and what changed upstream. Run it managed, or export the container and run it yourself.

- Why this name
- A lantern lights up what is already in your archives, and an index is what makes it findable. Two plain words, easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Templates that run on day one
Start from templates for document Q&A, internal search or support knowledge. Each is a tested pipeline, not a starter repo to assemble.

Live source sync
Connectors watch SharePoint, Drive, S3 and Postgres for changes and re-index only what moved, including deletes and permission changes.

Bring your own vector store
Point a template at Pinecone, Weaviate, Qdrant, Milvus or Chroma, or use the hosted store included in paid plans.

Schema change alerts
When a source renames a column or changes a file format, Lantern flags the affected pipeline and holds the last good index.

PricingAI proposal
Tiers sit within published vector database plans: Weaviate $45, Pinecone $20 to $500, Chroma $250 a month, all with free plans. Qdrant lists prices on request. Lantern prices are a starting point to test.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Reaches customers through developer content, template examples and open-source community channels. Internal search tools are used inside a company, so the product spreads little through its own use.
- Do they become customers?
- Readers of content can become paying customers directly. Test whether free-tier users hit the document and source limits and convert to Team within a month.
- First customers
- Data engineers at mid-size companies, 200 to 2,000 staff, who keep internal documents in SharePoint or Google Drive and have a stalled RAG prototype.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and template gallery: Publish free open templates that point to the managed version for sync and monitoring.
- Developer communities: Write walkthroughs on keeping a RAG index fresh in forums and ML communities.
- Direct outreach: Contact data leads who posted about RAG sync problems and offer a free pilot.
- First milestone
- Five paying Team customers who each run a live SharePoint or Drive pipeline for 30 days.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedGitHub repository gained 58792 stars in 1184 days
- AI inferenceThe repository provides ready-to-run cloud templates for RAG and enterprise search systems that maintain live synchronization with multiple data sources.
- Public claimThe solution integrates with multiple specialized vector databases and data platforms, indicating these are commonly used but require separate assembly.
- AI inferenceThe repository has significant adoption with nearly 59,000 stars and 1,508 forks, suggesting strong developer interest in this solution space.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialOpen-source projects offer similar templates free. Teams may self-host, so paid value must come from managed sync, monitoring and support.
- TechnicalEach connector has its own auth, rate limits, permission models and change feeds. Keeping them reliable is ongoing work and may limit launch scope.
- DataEnterprise documents are sensitive. Buyers will ask about access control inheritance, tenant isolation and data residency before connecting sources.
- PlatformSource platforms can change APIs or restrict third-party access, breaking sync for customers with little notice.
- AIAnswer quality depends on chunking and models. Templates may underperform on a customer's data without tuning, which the test bench only partly addresses.
