Desktop app: Frontend developers spend long sessions querying data, defining schemas in TypeScript, reviewing sync state and conflict resolution—all sustained development work. Sample screens on a computer, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Cairnbase is a database that lives in the browser and keeps itself in step with the server and every other device. You query local data with typed calls, and the UI updates as soon as a change lands, whether it came from you, a teammate or a phone that just came back online.
It is made for frontend and full-stack developers who now build their own sync layer or stitch tools together. Conflict handling, offline queues and permissions are built in and visible, so you can see why a write won or was merged instead of guessing.
Pricing follows usage, and a self-hosted build is available for teams that must keep data in their own account. Open export formats are part of the product, so an app never depends on one small team staying afloat.

- Why this name
- A cairn is a stack of stones that stays put and marks the way. It suggests a steady base and several pieces kept in balance, like synced copies.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Local-first queries
Read and write a local store in the browser. Live queries re-render your UI at once, with no spinner for data you already have.
No member yet
Built-in conflict resolution
Pick a merge rule per field: last write, counter, set union or text merge. Each conflict is logged so you can replay it.

Offline and back online
Writes queue on the device and replay in order on reconnect. A status hook tells your UI what is still pending.

Typed schema and permissions
Define tables and access rules in TypeScript. Rules run on the server, and the client gets typed results.

Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Visible inside customers’ products. Apps built on Cairnbase can show a small 'synced with Cairnbase' badge and a link in the connection status panel. The developer's own users see it, and the free plan keeps it on.
- Do they become customers?
- Most people who see the badge are end users, not developers. Test whether the badge and the docs link bring sign-ups from other developers, and whether they upgrade past the free tier.
- First customers
- Solo developers and teams of two to five building collaborative or offline-capable React web apps, who today write their own sync code.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and developer forums: Post a technical write-up on the conflict rules and a working demo app, and answer questions in the thread.
- Open-source starter templates: Publish free templates for todo, notes and chat apps that use Cairnbase, so developers can copy and ship.
- Direct outreach to affected teams: Contact developers who posted about moving off a shut-down sync database and offer migration help.
- First milestone
- Ten teams run a real app on Cairnbase for 30 days, and three of them pay for Pro.
Why people already pay for this

- Public claimInstantDB attracted 17,000 users who created 400,000 applications processing 2.5 billion transactions, demonstrating significant adoption in the real-time database space.
- Public claimThe product required a substantial production-grade engineering effort to move from prototype to market, indicating technical complexity but also the existence of deep market needs.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalSync, merge rules and offline replay are hard to get right. Data loss or wrong merges would destroy trust, so a long test period is needed before launch.
- CommercialThe material says the earlier product with wide adoption could not make its business sustainable. Free users may not convert to paid usage tiers.
- CommercialDevelopers fear lock-in after a shutdown. Self-hosting and export must be credible from day one, which costs engineering time.
- PlatformBrowser storage limits and eviction differ, especially on iOS Safari, and can clear offline data without warning.
- DataStoring customers' app data brings security, backup and privacy duties that grow with every customer.
