About this appAI proposal
Tripwire Desk is a real-time fraud decisioning service for online businesses with no ML team and little labeled data. You describe a fraud pattern in plain language, such as: new account, gift cards, shipping address changed twice. The service turns it into a decision that runs on every transaction or user event.
Agents draft decision workflows, train model variants on whatever labels you have, and replay recent traffic to compare them. You see the best performer and its results, then approve it before it goes live. Rules and models work together, so a pattern with no labels can still be acted on.
It is built for small risk and ops teams who watch fraud tactics change and cannot retrain models every few weeks. Every decision shows which rule or model caused it, so analysts can review and correct it.

- Why this name
- A tripwire is a simple line that alerts you when crossed. A desk is where a small team sits and decides. Together: easy alerts, human control.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Plain-language rules
Write a fraud pattern as a sentence. It becomes a testable rule, with a preview of which past events it would have flagged.

Real-time decision API
Send an event, get approve, review or decline with reasons. Rules and model scores are combined in one call.

Works with few labels
Language-based decision models handle patterns with no labeled history, alongside classic ML models for cases that have it.

Agent-built model variants
Agents propose workflows and train variants on your data, then replay recent events to rank them.

What it could be worthEstimate

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. The decision API runs behind the customer's checkout or signup, so end users never see the product. It reaches customers through sales, content and developer docs, not through its own use.
- Do they become customers?
- Nothing spreads through use. Test whether fraud leads in small online businesses respond to a replay on their own data, offered free, and then convert to paid.
- First customers
- Fraud or risk leads at online marketplaces and fintech apps with 10 to 200 staff, no ML team, and a rule list they edit by hand.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and founder forums: Post a write-up on fraud tactics that outpace models, with a demo replay. The source thread suggests interest here.
- Direct outreach to risk leads: Message fraud and risk leads on LinkedIn. Offer a free replay of their last 30 days of events.
- Payments and fraud communities: Join fraud-prevention Slack groups and share rule templates and tactic write-ups.
- First milestone
- Five paying customers in one vertical, each replaying their data and putting at least one agent-tuned variant live.

RisksAI inference
- AILanguage-based decision models may be slower, less consistent or costlier per event than classic scoring, which could break real-time latency limits.
- CommercialFraud buyers may not trust a new vendor with decline decisions. Sift and Sardine are established, and trust and proof may matter more than features.
- DataCustomers must send sensitive transaction and identity data. Security reviews and data-handling terms may slow early deals.
- TechnicalAgent-trained variants may overfit small data. Replay results could look better than live performance, so approval gates and monitoring are essential.
- RegulatoryAutomated declines may carry explainability and fairness duties in some markets, which would require audit logs and reason codes.
