About this appAI proposal
Subtitle Lane listens to the audio you choose, a browser tab, a shared screen or your microphone, and shows it as translated subtitles in a small floating window while people speak. Pick the target language once and keep working in the meeting, video or stream you already have open.
It is for people on international teams, viewers of foreign-language streams and videos, and presenters who need to follow or be followed across languages. There is no file to upload and nothing to translate afterwards.
It installs as a web app, so there is no desktop setup on each machine. Subtitles float over other windows, can be styled for readability, and each session can be saved as a bilingual transcript if you want one.

- Why this name
- A lane is a strip where subtitles run, and it suggests a clear path between languages. Two plain words, easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Floating subtitle window
Subtitles sit in a small always-on-top window you can move, resize and restyle, so they stay visible over your call or video.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Users share bilingual transcripts and subtitle files with colleagues or viewers. Each export carries a small link to Subtitle Lane, and teammates can join a session to read the same subtitles.
- Do they become customers?
- People who receive a transcript can try the free tier, and many are in the same multilingual team. Whether they convert needs testing: measure sign-ups from transcript links and from joined sessions.
- First customers
- Remote teams of 10 to 50 people with members in two or three countries, starting with the person who runs weekly all-hands or customer calls.
- Where to reach them
- Open-source communities: Post in discussions around the GitHub project showing live translation, and offer a hosted option for people who do not want to run it.
- Remote-work communities: Offer free trials to team leads in forums and groups for distributed teams, and ask for feedback on delay and accuracy.
- Streamer and language-learner groups: Share short demos of foreign-language streams with live subtitles to reach viewers who watch daily.
- First milestone
- Ten teams use it weekly for a month and five pay for the Team plan.

RisksAI inference
- PlatformCapturing system or tab audio from a web app depends on browser support. It is limited on some browsers and operating systems, and the always-on-top window is not available everywhere. A native wrapper may be needed.
- TechnicalSubtitles must appear within about two seconds to be useful in a live conversation. Streaming, accents and overlapping speakers can break that and lower accuracy.
- CommercialPer-minute speech and translation costs may squeeze margins on a free tier and on flat subscriptions. Unit costs need testing before prices are set.
- AIMistranslation in meetings could mislead users. Output needs clear labelling as machine translation and a way to flag errors.
- RegulatorySending meeting audio to third-party services raises consent and privacy questions, especially for company calls. Users need clear notices and a no-storage option.
