About this appAI proposal
Cutover Keys moves Redis and Valkey data between providers, between protocol versions, and from managed services to your own servers. You connect a source and a target, and it checks both before anything moves.
The pre-flight report lists what would block the move: version gaps, unsupported commands or modules, and data formats that do not carry over. For each problem it suggests a way around it. Then you pick a strategy, such as a one-time copy or a live sync with a planned cutover.
After the copy, it compares keys, types, expiries and sample values on both sides and gives you a report to attach to your change ticket. It is built for platform teams who want to switch providers without writing one-off scripts.

- Why this name
- Keys are what Redis stores, and a cutover is the moment you switch over. The two plain words say what the product does.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Pre-flight analysis
Scans source and target for version gaps, unsupported commands, modules and data format issues, and lists blockers before you start.

Any source, any target
Plan moves between managed clouds and self-hosted servers, from Redis to Valkey or back.

Choose your strategy
Pick a one-time snapshot copy, or a live sync that keeps the target current until you cut over.

Validation report
Compares key counts, types, TTLs and sampled values on both sides, and flags every mismatch.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.

Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Pre-flight and validation reports are shared as links with reviewers, security teams and managers who approve a migration. Each report carries the product name and a link to run your own.
- Do they become customers?
- Reviewers are often engineers who may run their own migrations later, but may only read once. Test whether report viewers click through and start a pre-flight.
- First customers
- Platform engineers at small to mid-size software companies moving from a managed Redis service to Valkey or self-hosted infrastructure.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and Valkey community: Post a free pre-flight checker and write up common blockers in Redis-to-Valkey moves.
- Open-source repository: Publish the open core as a RIOT alternative so people searching for one find it.
- DevOps forums and Slack groups: Offer free pre-flight reports to people asking migration questions.
- First milestone
- Five teams complete a real migration with the paid live sync, and at least three pay.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalLive sync across versions and managed services is hard; some providers block replication commands, so some paths may support only snapshot copy.
- CommercialMigrations are one-off, so revenue may be lumpy and churn high after each move. Demand rests on public claims and a small HN thread.
- DataCustomers must give database credentials and network access; trust, security review and data handling are barriers to adoption.
- PlatformCloud providers may restrict access to export or replication features, or change them without notice.
- CommercialCloud vendors or the Valkey project may ship free migration tools, reducing the need for a paid product.
