ScreensConcept
Desktop app: Researchers write papers with LaTeX, manage citations, and monitor GPU jobs over long work sessions that require keyboard input and dense information layouts. Sample screens on a computer, in the proposed brand. Their numbers are sample data.

About this appAI proposal
Benchlog puts the research cycle of a computational lab in one place. Write your paper with live LaTeX preview, save papers from arXiv with citations linked to your text, submit jobs to your own GPU servers over SSH, and see metrics next to the draft that uses them.
It is built for academic researchers and small labs who train deep learning models and now juggle an editor, a reference list, a spreadsheet, a terminal and a chat thread. Each run keeps its settings and results, so a figure in the paper can be traced back to the run that made it.
Benchlog does not host your compute. It connects to servers you already have access to and keeps a record of what ran, when and why.

- Why this name
- A bench is where experiments happen and a log is the record of them. Together they say: work done, written down.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Live LaTeX writing
Write in the browser and see the compiled PDF update as you type. Errors point to the line, and every save is kept as a version.

arXiv library with linked citations
Paste an arXiv link to save the paper. Cite it from the editor and the bibliography entry is created for you.

Run tracking
Each run records hyperparameters, code version and metrics. Compare runs side by side in tables and charts.

GPU jobs over SSH
Submit, watch and stop jobs on your own servers from the app. Logs stream in and each run ends with a clear status.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no usable prices: Overleaf and Weights & Biases list paid plans at prices on request, and W&B has a free plan. These tiers are a starting point to test.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.
If it makes
Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. A researcher invites co-authors to a paper or project to comment, edit and see runs. Public read-only links can share a compiled paper with its linked runs.
- Do they become customers?
- Co-authors in the same lab can become paying members, but reviewers who open a link only see it. Test how many invited co-authors start their own project within 30 days.
- First customers
- PhD students and postdocs in deep learning labs of 3 to 15 people who run their own GPU servers and write papers in LaTeX.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and open-source: Release a free CLI and run logger, and link it to the hosted app for writing and shared views.
- Lab outreach: Offer pilots to a few university labs ahead of a conference deadline, when the workflow hurts most.
- Research communities: Post worked examples of a paper traced back to its runs in ML research forums and groups.
- First milestone
- Five labs in one field use it through a full paper deadline, and at least two pay for the Lab tier.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedGitHub repository gained 549 stars in 54 days
- Public claimThe product integrates LaTeX compilation, literature management, experiment tracking, metrics visualization, and GPU server job orchestration into a single research workbench
- Public claimResearchers need to manage the full research lifecycle including paper writing, literature review, experiment execution and tracking, and remote compute resources
- VerifiedOverleaf sells paid plans with prices on request, on its own pricing page, plus prices on request for larger customers

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalSafe LaTeX compilation and SSH relaying for many users is hard to build, and a bug could expose a lab's servers or files.
- CommercialOverleaf and Weights & Biases are established, so labs may keep them and only add a lighter tool. Linked figures must be clearly better.
- CommercialAcademic labs have small budgets and may stay on the free tier. Willingness to pay per member is unproven.
- PlatformUniversity clusters often use job schedulers, VPNs or two-factor login that block simple SSH. Support may need scheduler-specific work.
- DataUnpublished papers and results are sensitive. Labs may ask for data location guarantees before they trust it.
