About this appAI proposal
Rateroom is a rate and promotion desk for short-term rental owners and small hotels that sell on more than one booking platform. Instead of opening each platform to change prices, you see every property and channel in one calendar and decide once.
It suggests nightly rates, promotions and visibility changes, and shows why. You approve changes one by one, or set guardrails such as a floor price and let it act inside them. You can also ask questions in plain words through an AI assistant connector.
It is different because every change is explained, reversible and kept within limits you set. Pricing affects real revenue, so Rateroom never acts outside your floors, ceilings or approval rules.

- Why this name
- A room has a rate, and a desk is where you set it. Two plain words joined, easy to say, and it points to pricing for rooms.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Rateroom works behind the operator's own listings, so guests do not see it. Growth comes from content, communities for hosts and hotel owners, and word of mouth between operators.
- Do they become customers?
- Guests who book never meet Rateroom. Test whether operators in host communities convert from a free trial that shows missed revenue on their own calendar.
- First customers
- Hosts running 3 to 15 listings on both Airbnb and Booking.com in one city, who set prices by hand today.
- Where to reach them
- Host communities: Join regional host forums and groups, offer free calendar audits that show gap nights and rate mismatches.
- Hacker News and builder forums: Share the assistant connector demo with operators who want to manage pricing by chat.
- Direct outreach: Message small hotel and apartment operators found on listings, offering a trial.
- First milestone
- Ten operators in one city connect two channels, and five pay after a 30-day trial.

RisksAI inference
- PlatformAirbnb and Booking.com limit who may connect and write rates. Access may need partner approval or a channel manager, which could delay or cap the product.
- CommercialExisting pricing tools may already serve this audience. The material names no competitor tools, so differentiation is untested.
- AIA bad suggestion or misread chat request could cut revenue. Guardrails, confirmation and undo are needed from day one.
- DataGood rate suggestions need demand data. Without market data, early suggestions may rest only on the operator's own history.
- TechnicalCalendars drift when bookings arrive on several channels at once, risking double bookings or stale prices.
