About this appAI proposal
Swapcheck reads your list of software subscriptions and tells you, tool by tool, whether an AI prompt could do the job instead. Each tool gets a verdict (keep, trim, or swap), the monthly saving, what you would lose, and the steps to move over.
It is made for individuals, small teams and consultants who pay for many single-purpose tools and decide today by gut feeling. You add subscriptions by hand or from a CSV export. Swapcheck asks what you actually use each tool for, then rates the fit.
Unlike a plain spending tracker, it does not only show what you pay. It shows which tools are now redundant and which still earn their place, with the gaps spelled out so you can decide for yourself.

- Why this name
- Swap says the action, check says the honest review. Two plain syllables, easy to say, and not tied to any tool it audits.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Keep, trim or swap verdicts
Every subscription gets a clear verdict with a short reason, so you stop guessing which tools are redundant.

Usage interview
Answer a few questions about how you really use each tool. The verdict depends on your use, not the product's feature list.

An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Consultants and team leads send audit reports as share links to clients or finance owners. The recipient sees the verdicts and savings, with Swapcheck's name on the page.
- Do they become customers?
- Recipients are often owners of subscription budgets, so some may run their own audit. To test: how many report viewers start a free audit, and how many consultants pay for the branded tier.
- First customers
- Freelance operations consultants and fractional finance advisors who review SaaS spend for small businesses of 5 to 30 people.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub issues and discussions: Join the conversation in the open-source SaaS-replaceability project and offer early access to people asking for audits.
- Founder and indie communities: Post a free audit offer in small-business and indie maker forums, and ask for a real subscription list in return for feedback.
- Direct outreach: Message consultants with a sample client report built from public tool prices and offer a free pilot.
- First milestone
- Five consultants each run audits for at least two clients, and three of them pay for the Consultant tier within 60 days.

RisksAI inference
- AIVerdicts can be wrong or overconfident. A user could cancel a tool they need. Show gaps clearly, label verdicts as advice, and never cancel anything for the user.
- DataThe tool catalog goes stale as products change plans and features. Keeping it current costs ongoing work, and wrong data hurts trust.
- CommercialThe material shows interest in a free open-source project, not proof that people will pay. Users may run one audit and leave, which makes subscription retention hard.
- PlatformAI assistants or expense tools could add a similar audit feature to what they already offer, which would make a stand-alone product less needed.
- Intellectual propertyThe open-source project in the material solves a similar problem. Avoid copying its code, wording or data, and check licences before reusing any of it.
