About this appAI proposal
Deskbell is a school office app for small and mid-sized schools. It keeps student records, admissions, attendance, grades, fees and timetables in one place, so office staff stop copying data between spreadsheets and older systems.
It runs in the browser and installs on a phone or office computer as a PWA. A principal can check today's attendance and unpaid fees in a minute. Office staff can enter a new admission once and see it appear in classes, fee lists and reports.
It is built for schools without an IT team: guided setup, import from spreadsheets, and plain reports. Unlike a full ERP module, there is nothing to host, configure or customise before the first term starts.

- Why this name
- A desk bell is what you ring at a school office. The name is short, easy to say and hints at one shared place for requests.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Guardians receive fee reminders, receipts and report sheets from the school with a small Deskbell mark. Applicant families use a public enquiry link. Staff at other schools may see them.
- Do they become customers?
- Guardians rarely buy school software, but staff who change schools or work at several might. Test whether any enquiry from the footer link leads to a school trial.
- First customers
- Principals and office managers at private schools with 100 to 500 students in one country, still using spreadsheets for fees and attendance.
- Where to reach them
- Direct outreach to schools: Email and call principals from public school directories, offering a free import of their current spreadsheets.
- School owner groups: Join private school associations and online forums, then offer a short demo at their meetings.
- Open source community: Answer questions from schools struggling to self-host school systems and point them to a hosted option.
- First milestone
- Five paying schools in one country within a term, each running fees and attendance in Deskbell.

RisksAI inference
- RegulatoryStudent data of minors is covered by privacy rules that differ by country. Region, consent and retention needs must be settled before the first school signs.
- CommercialThe material shows interest in an open source school system, which suggests some schools may prefer free self-hosted tools. Willingness to pay for hosted simplicity is untested.
- CommercialSchools differ in grading, terms and fee rules by country. Too much configuration slows the build, and too little loses buyers.
- TechnicalTimetable clash detection and fee plans with instalments are harder than they look and may delay the first version.
- DataMoving records out of old systems and spreadsheets is messy. Poor imports could cause schools to distrust the data on day one.
