About this appAI proposal
Trailhand is a web-app music player for people who listen on a phone, a laptop and a tablet in the same day. When you move to another device, the song picks up there at the same second. You don't open a menu or choose a speaker.
It plays from your own library or a media server such as Plex, so you aren't tied to one subscription. You choose which devices count as yours and which one has priority at home or at your desk.
Handoff is the main feature, not an add-on. Each device shows a clear state: playing here, ready, or handed off. When a handoff fails, you see why and can fix it in one tap.

- Why this name
- A trail hand is someone who walks with you. The name suggests music that goes along as you move between devices.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Automatic handoff
Open Trailhand on another device and playback continues there at the same position. The old device stops so nothing plays twice.

Device priority rules
Say which device wins at home, at your desk or on the move. Rules are plain sentences you can edit.

Learned routines
Optional. Trailhand notices patterns, such as phone to desktop at 9, and prepares that device before you arrive.

Handoff log
See each handoff, how long it took and why it failed. No more guessing why playback started on its own.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no competitor prices, only that Spotify's cost pushes users to look elsewhere. These tiers are a starting point to test.

From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Listening is personal, so the product spreads through reviews, forum posts and word of mouth among self-hosted music fans, not through its own use.
- Do they become customers?
- Nothing in normal use reaches new people. Test whether posts in self-hosting communities lead to sign-ups and whether free users upgrade for unlimited devices.
- First customers
- Self-hosted music fans who run Plex at home and listen on a phone and a laptop, and are unhappy with MusicAssistant's iOS app.
- Where to reach them
- Self-hosting forums: Share a demo and the handoff log in Hacker News threads and home-server communities where these gaps came up.
- Plex user communities: Offer early access to people looking for a player after Plex's player team layoffs.
- First milestone
- Fifty active free users on a Plex library, and ten paying Plus users after 60 days.
Why people already pay for this

- Public claimSeamless device handoff is a significant pain point in current music player solutions
- AI inferenceExisting device switching requires manual interaction rather than automatic handoff

RisksAI inference
- PlatformiOS browsers limit background audio and wake-ups for web apps. Handoff may be less reliable than a native app, and it is the core promise.
- CommercialStreaming services may not license third-party playback. Without them the product serves only people with their own libraries, a smaller group.
- TechnicalHandoff within about a second needs tight clock and state sync across flaky networks. Edge cases like two active devices would erode trust.
- AIPredicting the next device may guess wrong and start music unwanted. It needs to stay optional and easy to undo.
