About this appAI proposal
Agentgate gives IT and security teams one place to approve, deploy and watch the AI agents their engineers build. Each agent gets its own identity, a list of tools it may call, and a log of what it did.
Engineers connect MCP tools, language models and other agents through a single catalog instead of wiring each one by hand. Security sets the rules once: who can use which agent, which tools need approval, and which data stays out of reach.
It is built for security and engineering teams at mid-size and large technology companies. The difference is that governance is part of the connection step, not a review added after agents are already running.

- Why this name
- A gate is where access is checked and allowed through. It suggests control without blocking work, and it is easy to say and spell.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Agent identity
Every agent gets its own identity with scoped, short-lived credentials, so you can see and revoke what each one can reach.

MCP tool catalog
Engineers register MCP servers once. Security marks each tool as allowed, needs approval, or blocked.
No member yet
Model connections
Connect approved LLM providers with company keys held centrally, so no keys sit in agent code.

Policy by team
Set rules per team or role: which agents they can run, which tools they can call, and spending caps.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Partners and integrations. List the gateway where engineers already find MCP servers and agent frameworks, with ready connectors and a one-line setup. Security teams then see the console when engineers try it.
- Do they become customers?
- Engineers who try a connector can lead to a paying security or IT buyer, but this must be tested: does a free pilot in one team turn into a company-wide purchase?
- First customers
- Security leads and platform engineering leads at technology companies of 200 to 2,000 staff that already run several internal AI agents.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and MCP communities: Publish an open guide and sample policies for governing MCP tools, then invite readers to a free pilot.
- Direct outreach: Message security and platform leads at mid-size tech firms with a short audit of their agent sprawl.
- Security meetups: Run small workshops on agent identity and access, and offer onboarding to attendees.
- First milestone
- Five paying customers among mid-size tech companies, each running at least five agents through the gateway.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialA funded competitor already reports 40+ paying enterprise customers (public claim). A new entrant needs a sharper wedge, such as a narrower buyer or faster setup, to win deals.
- TechnicalPutting a gateway in the call path adds latency and becomes a critical dependency. Downtime would stop customers' agents, so reliability must be proven early.
- CommercialEnterprise security buyers often require SOC 2 and reviews before purchase. This slows the first sales and costs time that a small team may lack.
- PlatformMCP is still changing. Spec changes or built-in governance from model vendors and cloud providers could remove the need for a separate layer.
- DataLogs may hold sensitive prompts and results. Storing them creates a new data risk, so redaction and retention controls need care.
