About this appAI proposal
Lockbench is a place to run the automations and AI agents that finance, marketing and ops teams build with code assistants. Paste or upload what your assistant wrote and it runs in an isolated sandbox instead of on a personal laptop.
Credentials stay out of the code. Scripts call services through a proxy that adds keys at run time, so IT decides who can use which account and builders never handle the secret. Every run is logged and tied to a person and team.
Builders keep working the way they do now. IT and security get one list of what is running, what it touches and who owns it, plus a way to pause anything that looks wrong.

- Why this name
- A workbench for builders with a lock for IT. Two plain words joined, easy to say and spell.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Isolated run sandboxes
Each run starts in a clean, locked-down container with no access to other runs, personal files, or hosts outside the allow-list.

Credential proxy
Scripts call connected services without holding keys. Lockbench adds the credential at request time; IT can rotate or revoke it centrally.

Secret scan on upload
Code is checked for hardcoded keys and passwords. Lockbench offers to swap them for proxy references before the first run.

Org-wide automation inventory
One list of every automation: owner, team, schedule, services touched and last run. Hidden work becomes visible work.

PricingAI proposal
The material gives no competitor prices. It only says a freemium model with a free explorer edition is likely. These tiers and prices are a starting point to test.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.
If it makes
Worth about
$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Reached through sales, content and community outreach to IT and security leads and to team builders. Use inside a company spreads between teams, but runs produce nothing outside it.
- Do they become customers?
- Builders who find it can bring in their IT team, who would pay. Test whether a free builder pulls in a paying admin within a month.
- First customers
- IT or security leads at companies of 50 to 300 people where finance or marketing staff already build automations with code assistants.
- Where to reach them
- Hacker News and dev forums: Post about running assistant-built scripts safely, and talk with people who raise the problem.
- Security and IT communities: Share a short guide on finding hardcoded credentials in team-built scripts, with Lockbench as the fix.
- Direct outreach: Contact IT leads in finance-heavy firms and offer a free inventory of their team-built automations.
- First milestone
- Five paying teams, each with at least three automations running through the credential proxy within 60 days.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedHacker News post received 27 points and 2 comments
- Public claimFinance and marketing teams are building automations without IT oversight, with credentials embedded in code and no organizational visibility.
- Public claimGrowing adoption of AI-powered code generation is enabling widespread independent automation building by non-technical teams.
- Public claimOrganizations need secure execution environments where decentralized automation work is visible and controllable.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalRunning arbitrary generated code for many tenants is hard to isolate. A sandbox escape or credential leak would end trust in the product.
- CommercialEvidence is thin: one post with 27 points and 2 comments. Security buyers may prefer existing access-control tools or their own cloud.
- PlatformCode-assistant vendors could add their own secure run environments, which would take away the main reason to use a separate product.
- RegulatoryTeams will route finance and customer data through it. Buyers may ask for compliance attestations that a small team takes months to earn.
- AIGenerated scripts may use libraries or services in ways that break in the sandbox, so users may need help to get their code to run.
