About this appAI proposal
Ownhook is a self-hosted AI voice agent system for call centers. It connects to your existing telephony over SIP, answers incoming calls with an AI agent, and passes the call to a human agent without dropping the connection.
It is built for call center operators and contact center managers who want to cut staffing pressure at peak times but do not want per-minute billing or a vendor holding their call data. You can choose which AI model provider each agent uses and switch later.
A browser-based agent desktop and an API-first design let supervisors watch live calls, step in, and connect Ownhook to the tools they already run.

- Why this name
- A switchboard is the classic place where calls are routed. Ownhook says the lines, the agents and the data stay in your hands.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Runs on your own infrastructure
Deploy agents on your servers. Call audio and transcripts stay where you decide, which helps with data residency.

Handoff without dropping the call
The AI agent can pass a live caller to a human agent while the connection stays up, with the transcript attached.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Ownhook runs inside the operator's own infrastructure and callers do not see its name. It reaches customers through sales, open-source-style content and telephony communities, not through its own use.
- Do they become customers?
- Callers cannot become customers. Test whether operators find it through developer communities and self-host searches, and whether a pilot converts to a paid licence.
- First customers
- Small and mid-size call center operators (20 to 150 seats) that already run FreeSWITCH or SIP trunks and have an engineer on staff.
- Where to reach them
- FreeSWITCH and VoIP communities: Post setup guides and demos in forums, GitHub discussions and telephony groups where operators ask about AI agents.
- Direct outreach: Contact managers at outsourced support centers with peak-hour staffing problems and offer a paid pilot on one queue.
- Technical content: Publish cost and latency comparisons between per-minute hosted platforms and a flat licence.
- First milestone
- Three paid pilots from operators who route real calls through Ownhook on one queue.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalReal-time voice needs low latency. Running on customer hardware with varied networks and SIP setups may make quality hard to guarantee.
- CommercialCall centers may prefer paying a hosted vendor to avoid running servers. A 420-star repository shows interest, not paying demand.
- AIModel providers may change pricing or terms, and the agent may give wrong answers to callers, which needs guardrails and clear fallback to humans.
- RegulatoryCall recording, consent and AI disclosure rules differ by region. Operators need tools to comply, and the product cannot promise it.
- Intellectual propertyThe signal comes from a public GitHub project. Licence terms and similarity to it need checking before building.
