About this appAI proposal
Stashlight is one place to keep the links, notes and images you collect while working. Save from your phone or browser, and it stores a readable copy so the page is still there if the original changes or disappears.
AI suggests tags as you save, and full-text search covers titles, page text and your own notes. You choose where the AI runs: your own server, or a model you point it at. Nothing leaves unless you allow it.
Run it yourself in one container and export everything at any time, or use the hosted plan if you don't want to manage a server. The installable web app works on phone and desktop.

- Why this name
- A stash is where you keep things; light suggests finding them again. Two plain words joined, easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.

Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. It is a personal library, so use does not expose it to others. Reach comes from self-hosting communities, content and word of mouth, plus any shared collections added later.
- Do they become customers?
- Test whether self-hosters pay for a hosted or supporter plan, and whether people who dislike running servers convert to hosted.
- First customers
- Researchers and independent knowledge workers who already self-host or want to, and use read-it-later or bookmark tools today.
- Where to reach them
- Self-hosting communities: Share a Docker setup and import guide in forums and subreddits about self-hosting and note-taking.
- Import guides: Publish how-to pages for moving out of read-it-later services and browser bookmarks.
- Open GitHub repo: Publish the self-hosted core, collect issues, and invite hosted-plan sign-ups.
- First milestone
- Twenty-five hosted sign-ups and ten paying customers within 60 days of launch.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialFree open-source self-hosted tools already exist and have large followings. Users may not pay for a license, so the hosted tier must prove its value.
- TechnicalArchiving pages reliably is hard: paywalls, scripts and blocked fetches break saves, and self-host setups differ.
- AIAuto-tags may be wrong or inconsistent. Local models are weaker, and hosted AI conflicts with the privacy promise.
- PlatformPWAs have limited share-sheet and background support on some phones, so saving from mobile may feel weaker than a native app.
- DataStoring copied web content raises copyright and storage-growth questions, and hosted users must trust our backups.
