About this appAI proposal
Plainplay is a web app that runs the boring parts of a self-hosted cloud gaming setup. You connect your own cloud account, pick a GPU machine, and Plainplay builds it, starts it when you want to play, and shuts it down when you stop. You keep your own game library and your own machine.
It is for gamers with some technical skill, small gaming groups and teams that already run cloud infrastructure and want an alternative to subscription services such as GeForce Now or Blacknut. The open-source cloud gaming project it builds on has 981 GitHub stars; Plainplay is a proposal for the management layer around it.
Unlike a plain setup guide, Plainplay shows what each session cost, warns before an idle machine keeps billing, and lets a group share one machine's schedule. Nothing locks you in: the machine and its data stay in your account.

- Why this name
- Plain says what it is: no lock-in, no jargon. Play says why you are here. Two common words that are easy to say and spell.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One-tap machine start and stop
Wake your gaming machine from your phone and open a stream when it is ready. Stop it with one tap so it does not keep billing.

Setup from a template
Pick a GPU size and region, and Plainplay creates the machine, drivers and streaming server in your own cloud account.

Cost per session
See what each session and each month cost, split by player, so you can compare it with a subscription yourself.

Idle shutdown
Set a rule to stop the machine after no input for a set time, with a warning first. Avoids paying for a forgotten session.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Users invite others. A group owner invites friends to a shared machine. Each invitee gets a login to book slots and open a stream, and sees the cost split.
- Do they become customers?
- Invitees are players who may want their own machine, but many will just join a friend's. Test how many invitees create their own account and pay.
- First customers
- Technically skilled gamers who already run, or have tried, a self-hosted cloud gaming setup, and who play with a small group of friends.
- Where to reach them
- Open-source project community: Offer Plainplay to the project's GitHub users and discussions as a companion tool, with clear credit.
- Self-hosting forums: Post a cost walkthrough and a free setup template in self-hosting and cloud gaming communities.
- First milestone
- Twenty people complete a setup and run a month of sessions, and five of them pay for Player or Group.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedGitHub repository gained 981 stars in 1069 days
- Public claimPeople pay for commercial cloud gaming platforms like GeForce Now and Blacknut, indicating a market with established payment patterns.
- Public claimUsers desire alternatives to commercial cloud gaming platforms and want to deploy their own infrastructure in the cloud without vendor lock-in.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalCloud GPU machines, drivers and streaming setups differ by provider and region. Reliable one-tap setup may take longer than planned, and low latency depends on the user's network.
- CommercialUsers willing to self-host may expect everything free. Whether they pay for a management layer is untested, and the material shows no pricing for it.
- PlatformCloud providers may limit GPU quotas for new accounts or change prices and APIs. Game publishers' terms may restrict running games on rented machines.
- DataStoring cloud access keys makes Plainplay a target. A leak could let others run costly machines in users' accounts.
- Intellectual propertyThe product builds on an open-source project. Its licence, and any use of third-party streaming tools, must be checked before launch.
