About this appAI proposal
Vaultline is a web console for backing up the databases you run yourself. Connect MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, MongoDB, SQLite, Redis or Firebird, pick a schedule and a destination, and it takes care of the rest.
It is for infrastructure teams and database administrators who today juggle native dump tools, cron jobs and custom scripts, or who find terminal-only tools hard to use for routine work. Vaultline puts schedules, run history and restores into one screen.
Backups go to S3-compatible storage, SFTP, Samba shares or local disk. Databases behind a firewall are reached through SSH tunnels. A restore is a guided flow, not a command you have to remember.

- Why this name
- A vault keeps valuable things safe, and a line suggests schedules and tunnels. Two plain parts, easy to say and spell.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One console, eight database types
Manage MySQL, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, SQL Server, MongoDB, SQLite, Redis and Firebird jobs from one list instead of separate scripts.
No member yet
Flexible schedules
Set hourly, daily or custom cron schedules per database, with retention rules that remove old backups automatically.
No member yet
Many storage destinations
Send backups to S3-compatible storage, SFTP, Samba or local disk. Use more than one destination per job.
No member yet
SSH tunnel connections
Reach databases on private networks through an SSH tunnel, with no need to expose database ports.

The material gives no competitor prices. Borg Backup is open source, so a free tier fits. These tiers are a starting point to test, based on the number of databases.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Vaultline is a back-office tool used by a few admins. Its use does not expose it to new buyers, so it grows through content, communities and direct outreach.
- Do they become customers?
- Test whether admins who find it through search or self-hosting communities convert from the free tier to paid once they pass three databases.
- First customers
- Small infrastructure teams of 2 to 10 people running self-hosted PostgreSQL and MySQL on their own servers, with backups done by scripts.
- Where to reach them
- Self-hosting communities: Share guides on backing up mixed databases and invite members to try the free tier.
- Technical blog posts: Write restore-testing and SSH tunnel tutorials that rank for common admin searches.
- Direct outreach: Message DBAs and DevOps leads at small companies to offer a guided setup call.
- First milestone
- Ten teams run scheduled backups for a month, and five pay for the Team plan.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalEight database engines each have their own dump and restore methods, versions and edge cases. A restore that fails silently would destroy trust.
- DataThe product holds database credentials and touches sensitive backups. A breach would be severe, so encryption and agent design need review.
- CommercialOpen-source tools and scripts are free. Teams may not pay unless the console clearly saves time over the tools they already use.
- PlatformA PWA console depends on a separate agent installed by the customer, which adds setup steps and support work.
