About this appAI proposal
Driftbox gives you disposable email addresses on a domain you control. Create an address for a sign-up or a test run, read what arrives in a clean inbox, then keep it or delete it with everything inside.
It is for developers and privacy-minded people who already have a server or can run one. Connect your domain, point mail at it, and manage addresses from an installable web app on phone or desktop.
Public disposable services share inboxes with strangers and forget your addresses. Aliases and forwarding tie back to your real mailbox. Driftbox keeps mail on your side, with a lifetime per address and no third party reading it.

- Why this name
- Drift suggests addresses that float by and fade; box says it is an inbox. Two plain, pronounceable words joined.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Addresses on your own domain
Connect one or more domains and create random or named addresses in a tap. Mail never passes through a public inbox.

Keep or burn, per address
Set each address to expire in an hour, a week, or never. Burning one deletes its messages and rejects later mail.

Test inbox API
Create an address and fetch its messages over a simple API, so automated sign-up tests can read confirmation links.

Code and link extraction
Verification codes and confirm links are pulled out of each message and shown first, ready to copy.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Reaches customers through open-source listings, developer content and search. Mail it receives is not seen by others, so use does not spread the product by itself.
- Do they become customers?
- Self-hosters are the audience, but they pay only for hosting or support. Test whether any convert to the hosted tier.
- First customers
- Solo developers and small QA teams who test sign-up flows and already own a domain and a small server.
- Where to reach them
- Self-hosting communities: Share a setup guide and a one-container demo in self-hosting and privacy forums.
- Developer blog posts: Write about testing email sign-ups in CI without public inboxes.
- GitHub: Publish the receiver as open source, linking to the hosted tier.
- First milestone
- Ten self-hosted installs and five paying hosted customers within eight weeks of launch.
Why people already pay for this

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalReceiving mail needs correct MX, TLS and port 25 access; many hosts block it. Setup friction could lose users before their first address.
- CommercialSelf-hosters expect free software. Converting them to the paid hosted tier is unproven.
- RegulatoryHosting inboxes may receive personal data and abuse. Retention, takedown and GDPR duties need handling.
- PlatformLarge senders often block known disposable domains, so sign-ups may fail on some sites. Users must bring their own domains.
- CommercialThe only evidence is one GitHub repo's star growth, so demand for a paid product is not shown.
