About this appAI proposal
Shelfhand is a store platform for sellers and the .NET developers who work for them. It runs on your own ASP.NET Core hosting, so you keep your data, your checkout and your costs. Products, orders, stock and customers are managed in a plain admin that a shop owner can use without a developer.
Customizing is done in normal C# projects: a clean module structure, typed settings and project templates, so a developer adds a payment method or a shipping rule without editing the core. Updates arrive as packages, not as a fork you have to merge.
If you do not want to run servers, the same store can be hosted for you and moved to your own infrastructure later. This proposal aims to give the ease of a hosted shop with the control of self-hosting.

- Why this name
- A shelfhand is the helper who keeps a shop running. The name is two plain words and says the product does the daily work.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Visible inside customers’ products. Each storefront can show a small 'Built on Shelfhand' link in the checkout footer, on the free tier by default. Shoppers and other developers who see it can follow it to the project page.
- Do they become customers?
- Shoppers rarely become platform buyers; developers and shop owners who notice the footer might. Test whether footer clicks lead to installs, and whether any installs move to Managed.
- First customers
- Freelance and small-agency .NET developers building stores for small merchants, plus single-owner shops with 50 to 500 products that already pay for hosting.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and .NET communities: Publish the open core with a starter template and write up migration steps from nopCommerce for developers.
- Developer forums and meetups: Post build-along guides on .NET forums, subreddits and local user groups, with working demo stores.
- Direct outreach to agencies: Offer a free migration of one client store to agencies in exchange for feedback.
- First milestone
- Ten live stores on the self-hosted core and five paying Managed customers within one quarter of launch.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialnopCommerce is free, open source and already established in ASP.NET Core. Buyers may see no reason to switch unless the setup and upgrade experience is clearly better.
- TechnicalA store needs tax, shipping, payments and security to work correctly. Scope is large, and a small team may ship a thin core that merchants outgrow.
- CommercialFree self-hosted users may never pay. The Managed tier must prove sellers will pay for hosting and not just use the core.
- RegulatoryHosting stores means handling customer data and payment flows, which brings privacy and card-security duties that vary by country.
- PlatformThe shared stack runs on Vercel and Supabase, while the .NET store needs container hosting. Running two environments raises cost and operational load.
