About this appAI proposal
Keystow is a private file store and backup tool that runs on your own server or a small home or office box. Files are encrypted on the device before they leave it, and the keys stay with you. The server only ever holds data it cannot read.
It is made for technical users, small teams and organizations that must keep data in a chosen place, such as those facing GDPR or data residency rules. Setup is one guided install, and a web app handles files, sharing and backup jobs.
Existing self-hosted tools are described as hard to install and maintain, or ask you to trust a third party with keys. Keystow aims for a short install, clear defaults, and plain recovery steps.

- Why this name
- Key and stow: the two things the product does. It is short, easy to say, and does not echo existing storage brands. Trademark check still needed.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Keys stay with you
Files are encrypted in the browser or app. The server never sees keys or readable content. Recovery uses a printed key kit.

Ten-minute guided install
One Docker command or Unraid template, then a setup wizard checks ports, storage, certificates and backups.
No member yet
Granular access control
Set who can view, upload or share per folder, per person or per group, with expiry dates on every grant.
No member yet
Encrypted share links
Send a link with a password and expiry. The key travels in the link, so the server cannot open the file.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Members send encrypted share links to outside people. The download page shows that the file was shared with Keystow and links to the product.
- Do they become customers?
- Recipients see the product once and may not need storage. Test whether the share page leads recipients with privacy needs to try the free self-host tier.
- First customers
- Small European firms of 5 to 30 people in law, accounting or health consulting that need data kept in region and have one technical person.
- Where to reach them
- Self-hosting communities: Share the Docker and Unraid install in forums and GitHub discussions where people compare self-hosted tools.
- Local IT consultants: Offer a partner price to small IT firms that set up servers for regulated clients.
- First milestone
- Five paying Team plans from small firms in one region within 90 days of launching the first version.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalEnd-to-end encryption with sharing, versions and key recovery is hard to get right. A flaw could expose data, so an outside security audit is needed before launch.
- CommercialNextcloud, Seafile and Synology are established. Buyers may not pay for a newer tool unless the setup is clearly easier.
- TechnicalSupport load for self-hosted installs on varied hardware could be high and eat into small-team margins.
- DataIf a user loses their keys and recovery kit, data is lost for good. Users must accept this and the product must make it clear.
- RegulatoryClaims about GDPR or residency compliance need legal review. The product helps with control but does not make anyone compliant.
