About this appAI proposal
Lockbox Desk is one self-hosted workspace for the file jobs teams do every day: converting formats, compressing, reading text from scans, transcribing audio and running local AI models. Everything runs on your own servers, so sensitive files never go to an outside provider.
It is made for regulated teams in healthcare, finance and legal, and for IT groups running private or airgapped networks. Staff use a simple drag-and-drop screen. Developers use the same jobs through a REST API and saved pipelines.
Instead of a separate tool for each file type, you build a pipeline once, for example scan, OCR, redact, summarise, and run it on every new file. Each job leaves an audit entry that records who ran it and where the output went.

- Why this name
- A lockbox keeps valuables safe and a desk is where daily work happens. Together they say private file work, done in the open by ordinary staff.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One place for every file job
Convert, compress, OCR, transcribe and run AI models from one screen instead of juggling a separate tool per file type.

Runs fully on your network
Install on your own servers or in an airgapped site. Files and results stay inside your boundary.

Reusable pipelines
Chain steps such as OCR then summarise, save them, and apply them to folders or uploads automatically.

REST API for developers
Call the same jobs from your own systems with API keys, so automation needs no extra code path.

What it could be worthEstimate

$194,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. The product is installed inside private networks, so use does not reach outside people. Customers are found through content, open-source communities and direct sales to compliance-minded teams.
- Do they become customers?
- Nothing spreads by its own use. Test whether a free Community tier leads IT leads to buy the Team tier within 60 days, and whether compliance content brings qualified requests.
- First customers
- IT leads at small and mid-sized law firms and private clinics of 20 to 200 staff that handle scanned records and cannot use cloud AI services.
- Where to reach them
- Self-hosting communities: Share a guide on running private OCR and transcription in forums where IT admins discuss self-hosted tools.
- Legal and health IT groups: Offer free pilot installs through professional associations and IT service providers serving these firms.
- Compliance content: Publish checklists on keeping files on-premises when using AI, aimed at privacy officers.
- First milestone
- Five paying Team subscribers from law firms or clinics within 90 days of launching a free pilot.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedGitHub repository gained 2800 stars in 195 days
- Public claimOrganizations need file processing capabilities (conversion, compression, OCR, transcription, AI) but must keep files on-premises for compliance or security.
- AI inferenceThe tool is adopted in the market, as evidenced by repository metrics showing active community engagement.
- Public claimThe product supports multiple interfaces (UI, REST API, and pipelines) to serve different user segments and use cases.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialThe evidence shows one open-source repository gaining stars. Free self-hosted tools may cover what small teams need, so willingness to pay for support and compliance features is unproven.
- TechnicalInstalling and updating on varied customer hardware, including airgapped sites, is hard. GPU needs and model sizes may block smaller organisations.
- AILocal models can be less accurate than cloud ones for OCR and transcription, which matters for legal and medical records.
- RegulatoryBuyers may demand certifications or audits before trusting a vendor with regulated documents, which slows sales.
- PlatformA PWA front end served from a customer's own server must work without internet. Offline caching and update behaviour need testing.
