About this appAI proposal
Postbarn is a newsletter and mailing list manager for publishers, clubs and small businesses that want to keep control of their subscribers. You write campaigns, manage lists and read results in an installable web app. You connect your own SMTP sender, so delivery costs stay between you and your provider.
Your list is never locked in. Export everything to CSV or JSON at any time. Pricing is flat and does not rise with every subscriber you add.
The open-source self-hosted tools in this market show demand for control, but they ask you to run a server. Postbarn proposes the same control without the server: a hosted app with your sender, your data and a clean exit.

- Why this name
- A barn is a place you own and store things. Post is mail. Two plain words, easy to say and spell.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.

How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Shared outputs. Each campaign carries a small Powered by Postbarn footer on the free tier, and signup pages and forms are hosted on a Postbarn address that readers see.
- Do they become customers?
- Readers are mostly subscribers, but some run their own lists. Test whether footer and signup page visitors click through and start a free account.
- First customers
- Independent publishers and community organisations with 1,000 to 20,000 subscribers who pay per subscriber on a hosted platform today.
- Where to reach them
- Open-source mailing list forums: Offer a guided import and a hosted option to people who ask about running such tools themselves.
- Independent publisher communities: Post a cost comparison and migration guide for newsletter writers in their groups.
- First milestone
- Ten paying publishers each migrating a list of over 1,000 subscribers within 60 days.
Why people already pay for this
- VerifiedMailchimp's pricing page lists 2 paid plans, from €11.70 to €18 a month, plus a free plan

RisksAI inference
- CommercialBuyers who want to avoid SaaS may want true self-hosting, not a hosted app. A hosted product may not satisfy them, and free open-source tools already exist.
- TechnicalDeliverability, bounce and complaint handling and sending limits are hard to get right, and poor results will be blamed on Postbarn.
- RegulatoryConsent, unsubscribe and data protection rules for mailing lists vary by country; the product must make compliance easy.
- DataHolding customer subscriber lists makes Postbarn a target; breaches would damage a product sold on control.
