About this appAI proposal
Steadycast is a self-hosted real-time messaging server for teams that need notifications, live updates or collaborative features without paying per message or per connection. You deploy it on your own servers, connect your app in any language, and keep running it for as long as you like.
It speaks WebSocket, HTTP streaming, Server-Sent Events and WebTransport behind one API, and scales across nodes with Redis. A phone-friendly console (installable as a PWA) shows channels, connections and health, and issues client tokens, so on-call engineers can check on it from anywhere.
It is for developers and infrastructure teams at growth-stage and mid-market companies who want the cost profile of self-hosting without writing and maintaining their own pub/sub layer.

- Why this name
- Steady says it keeps running without fuss; cast means sending one message out to many listeners. Two plain words, easy to say.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One server, four transports
WebSocket, HTTP streaming, SSE and WebTransport share one channel API, so clients pick what their network allows.

Any language, any backend
Publish from your backend over a simple HTTP API. Not tied to one framework, unlike library-based approaches.
No member yet
Horizontal scale with Redis
Add nodes behind a load balancer. Redis carries messages between them, so a connection can land anywhere.
No member yet
Mobile operations console
Installable PWA to watch connections, inspect channels, rotate keys and see alerts from your phone.

PricingAI proposal
Verified pricing pages show Ably at $29 to $399 a month and Pubnub at $98 a month, each with a free plan. Steadycast tiers sit in that range as flat prices to test; they are a starting point.

Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Reaches customers through developer content, open-source repositories and direct sales. End users of customers' apps do not see Steadycast, so there is no built-in loop.
- Do they become customers?
- Test whether engineers who find the docs or a migration guide start a trial and convert to a paid support or console plan. Exposure alone does not bring buyers.
- First customers
- Backend leads at 20–200 person SaaS companies already paying a hosted real-time vendor for notifications or live dashboards.
- Where to reach them
- Developer communities: Post migration write-ups and benchmark notes in engineering forums and subreddits where Socket.IO and hosted vendors are discussed.
- Open-source repositories: Publish example apps and a Docker image; point readers to the console and support plan.
- Direct outreach: Email engineering leads of companies with public status pages or docs showing hosted real-time vendors.
- First milestone
- Ten teams run it in staging and five pay for the Team plan within 90 days.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialA mature open-source server already serves this need for free. Buyers may not pay for a console and support, so the paid value must be proven.
- TechnicalReliable delivery across nodes, reconnects and WebTransport browser differences is hard to get right and costly to debug.
- Intellectual propertyIf built on or compared with existing open-source servers, licence terms and trademark use must be checked.
- CommercialTeams may not trust a young vendor with core infrastructure SLAs.
- PlatformPWA push and background behaviour on iOS is limited, so mobile alerts may need email or chat integrations.
