About this appAI proposal
Relay Hut is an SMS gateway and API server you run on your own infrastructure. Your apps call one simple HTTP API. Messages leave through gateways you control, such as Android phones with SIM cards or a modem you already own. There are no per-message fees from a cloud SMS provider.
It is for developers and organizations that need to send text messages and want to keep message data and delivery under their own control. That includes small projects and teams with compliance needs.
The difference is a managed control panel on top of the self-hosted core: queues, retries, routing and logs in one place. You can deploy it yourself or use a hosted version.

- Why this name
- Relay Hut: a small, owned place where messages are handed on. Two plain words that suggest control and shelter for your data.

Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
One HTTP API for sending
Send, schedule and track messages with a documented REST API and webhooks for delivery and incoming replies.
No member yet
Local gateway pairing
Pair Android phones or modems as sending gateways by scanning a code. Add more gateways to raise volume.
No member yet
Routing and failover
Set rules by country, sender or load. If a gateway goes offline, messages move to the next one.

Queues, retries and rate limits
Control sending speed per SIM to avoid carrier blocks. Failed messages retry on your schedule.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. It reaches customers through open-source repositories, documentation, developer content and search. Messages sent are plain texts without product branding, so use does not spread it.
- Do they become customers?
- Developers who find it can become paying customers for hosting or support. Test whether self-host users upgrade, and which add-on they pay for.
- First customers
- Small software teams of 2 to 20 developers in one region, who send app notifications or one-time codes by SMS and want lower cost and data control.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and developer forums: Publish a clear install guide and answer questions where self-hosted SMS is discussed.
- Developer communities: Post a walkthrough on swapping a cloud SMS API for your own gateway.
- First milestone
- Five paying teams on the hosted or compliance tier within 90 days of launch, from one region.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialThe core is free to self-host, so paying customers must come from hosting, support or compliance add-ons. That conversion is unproven.
- RegulatoryBulk texting is regulated by country and carrier rules. Customers may need consent records, and SIM-based sending may be blocked or restricted.
- TechnicalPhone gateways go offline, are throttled by carriers or lose battery. Delivery reliability at high volume is hard to promise.
- PlatformAndroid background limits and app store policies on SMS permissions may restrict the companion app's distribution.
- CommercialThe only evidence is repository stars. Stars show interest, not willingness to pay.
