About this appAI proposal
Reelnotes Home turns a folder of videos into searchable notes. It writes a summary, splits the video into chapters, picks keyframes and produces a transcript. You then export the result as SRT or JSON. Everything runs on a server you control, so your footage stays with you.
It is built for content creators, video researchers, media teams and knowledge workers who handle many videos. Instead of watching everything, taking notes or paying a cloud service for each file, you queue videos in batches and review the results in a phone-friendly app.
The difference is ownership. No per-video fee, no upload to a third party, and structured output that fits your next step: editing, research notes, or a team wiki.

- Why this name
- Reel points to video, notes to what you get out of it, and Home to running it on your own server.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Batch queue
Drop in videos or point to a folder. Jobs run in the background on your hardware and report progress to the app.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Reached through content, demos and communities of people who process many videos. Self-hosted use does not expose the product to others, though exported files stay with the user.
- Do they become customers?
- Nobody else sees the product through its use, so growth depends on sales and content. Test whether visitors to a demo or install guide will pay for a licence.
- First customers
- Independent researchers and small media teams who are technical enough to self-host and handle dozens of videos each week.
- Where to reach them
- Open-source communities: Share a free demo and install guide where people discuss self-hosted AI tools and the GitHub project.
- Creator and research forums: Post worked examples of turning interviews into chapters, transcripts and JSON, and ask for pilot users.
- Short demo videos: Publish before-and-after clips showing a long video reduced to summary and chapters in minutes.
- First milestone
- Ten paying Solo licences from researchers or small media teams within 60 days of launching a demo.

RisksAI inference
- TechnicalLocal models need a capable GPU or run slowly. Long videos on modest hardware may take hours, which could disappoint creators on laptops.
- CommercialOpen-source projects may already offer this free. The only verified signal is one GitHub repository gaining stars, which shows interest but not willingness to pay.
- AISummaries and chapters may be wrong or miss context. Users need easy editing and clear labels that output is machine-generated.
- PlatformA self-hosted PWA needs users to install and secure a server. Setup friction may cut conversion for non-technical buyers.
- Intellectual propertyOpen-source model licences vary, and some limit commercial use. Each bundled model needs a licence check before sale.
