About this appAI proposal
Paperbarn is a visual website builder and CMS that you run on your own server. Drag blocks onto a page, edit content, and publish clean static pages. Your pages, data and users stay on infrastructure you choose.
It is made for web designers, developers, agencies and small businesses who like what Webflow, Framer or WordPress offer but do not want to depend on one platform's pricing, terms or hosting. Users, roles, plugins and a content database are built in.
The core is meant to be open source and free to self-host. If you would rather not run a server, an optional managed tier does it for you, and you can export and move to your own host at any time.

- Why this name
- A paper barn is a simple building you own outright. The name says pages you keep on your own land, in two plain words.
In the first version
Members say which features they would use. It tells PWAS what people want; it changes no score.
Visual page editor
Drag, drop and resize blocks on a live canvas. Edit text in place and see the page as visitors will.

PricingAI proposal
Anchored on VERIFIED pricing pages: Framer charges $10 to $30 a month, WordPress.com $9 to $70 a month. The material gives no willingness-to-pay for self-hosting; these tiers are a starting point to test.

$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- Visible inside customers’ products. Sites on the free managed tier carry a small, removable 'Made with Paperbarn' link in the footer. Visitors, often other site owners and freelancers, can follow it to the project page.
- Do they become customers?
- Visitors may be site owners, but most are not. To test: what share of footer clicks start a trial, and whether people will pay to remove the badge.
- First customers
- Freelance web designers and small agencies, one to five people, who build marketing sites for clients and already pay for Webflow, Framer or WordPress hosting.
- Where to reach them
- GitHub and Hacker News: Launch the open-source core with a demo and a migration guide. Collect people who want managed hosting.
- Designer communities: Offer to rebuild a real client site with Paperbarn in forums and groups for freelance designers.
- Agency outreach: Contact small agencies directly with a hosting-cost comparison against their current plans.
- First milestone
- Ten agencies or freelancers pay for the managed tier after rebuilding one live client site each.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialThe core is free and open source, so few users may pay for managed hosting or support. Revenue depends on convenience being worth more than the cost of running a server.
- TechnicalA visual editor that matches Webflow or Framer is large work. A thin first version may lose designers who expect fine layout control and animations.
- CommercialThe material mentions an existing open-source project with strong GitHub growth. A new entrant must differ clearly or may split a small community.
- TechnicalSelf-hosted users run their own updates. Plugins and old versions create security and support burdens that hosted rivals avoid.
- Intellectual propertyThe name needs a trademark check, and the open-source license must be chosen so a larger host cannot simply resell the managed tier.
