About this appAI proposal
Setshelf is a workout tracker where your logs, routines and progress sit in a database you control. Run it on your own server with one container, or use a hosted copy and export everything at any time. Sign in with passkeys, no ad accounts or tracking.
Log sets fast at the gym, including supersets and warm-ups, plan routines, and see which muscle groups you have trained this week. Bring your history over from FitNotes, Strong or Hevy exports so you do not start from zero.
It is built for gym-goers who want independence from commercial fitness apps, and for the self-hosting crowd who want a tracker that is pleasant on a phone.

- Why this name
- Sets are what lifters count, and a shelf is a place you keep things that belong to you. Two plain words joined, easy to say.

What it could be worthEstimate
What a software business making this much sells for today, from real deals. Pick a monthly revenue.
If it makes
Worth about
$190,000
Sale range $132,000 to $263,000
$120,000 a year in revenue
From 87 software businesses listed and sold on Empire Flippers in the last year, revenue vetted by the broker: they sell for about 19× their monthly revenue, most between 13× and 26×.
Measured on profit, the middle deal is 32× monthly net profit: about 2.7 years of profit.
An estimate, not an offer or financial advice. A real price depends on profit, growth, churn, how much of the work is the owner's, and the buyer.
How it would growAI proposal
How the product would reach new customers through its own use, and how the first ones would be found. A plan to test, not a result.
- Built-in loop
- No loop in the product. Reached through self-hosting communities, content and search. Workouts are private, so there is no built-in sharing loop in the first version.
- Do they become customers?
- People finding it through self-hosting channels can become paying hosted users. Test whether those who try self-hosting convert to the hosted tier or stay on the free one.
- First customers
- Gym-goers who already self-host services at home and currently log in Strong, Hevy or FitNotes.
- Where to reach them
- Self-hosting communities: Post a demo and Docker guide in self-hosting forums and subreddits, and ask for import feedback.
- Open demo and guides: Publish a public demo and a how-to on moving your history from Strong, Hevy or FitNotes.
- First milestone
- Fifty imports completed and ten people paying for hosted within 60 days of launch.

RisksAI inference
- CommercialSelf-hosters expect free software. Many may never pay, so the hosted tier must be convincing to people who do not want to run a server.
- CommercialStars on a GitHub repository show interest, not willingness to pay. An existing open-source project may already serve this audience.
- TechnicalImport formats from FitNotes, Strong and Hevy may change or be incomplete, and exercise names need matching.
- TechnicalOffline logging with sync to a self-hosted server can create conflicts when several devices are used.
- PlatformPasskeys and PWA behaviour differ between iOS and Android browsers, and on self-hosted domains without proper HTTPS.
